REI site says it would be at my local store in Anchorage by Jan 5 if I ordered today. I would sure like to handle one first.

I was not aware of the Boeker Backcountry. It appears to be quite similar to the Hogue Extrak, of which I have the XL. My first Magnacut fixed blade and boy does it deliver. Compared to the super flimsy Hogue "sheath", the Boeker looks actually quite solid, and orange is a big plus.
