Last week I bought a Böker Canoe, my first knife of this pattern. I played with it during the weekend and was very surprised. It has absolutely no blade play, it feels very solid and it also looks very nice in my opinion. It is a great pocket knife.

The sizes are almost the same as a Victorinox Soldier; the handle and big blade have the same size, but the blade on the Canoe has a bit more belly. The weight is also almost the same: the Canoe weights 70 g and the Soldier 69 g. Well, that's what my kitchen balance measures, I'm not sure how accurate it is.

Here are some pictures.

BTW, while I was searching for info on the Canoe pattern, I found this page which shows other patterns too. I think it is really handy for those like me, for whom terms like Stockman, Peanut and Congress are still new.

Nice canoe! That's my favorite pattern. Very pocketable, unintimidating, and a workhorse!
What kind of handle material is on that one? Some kind of wood?

Very nice! I should get canoe soon too... When I find one in appropriate price. Till then, great knife, use it well!

I like the pattern as well and have a few. They are well sized and most importantly...at least to me, they have a spear point main. Here is my small Navy...on top is an AG Russell
with a Colt on the bottom left and a Bulldog on the right.

Yes, it is wood. The guy that sold me the knife told me that it is ziricote.

Found some info on ziricote.

Source: Guatamala to southern Mexico, primarily Belize.

Description: Ziricote is the most dramatic member of the Cordia genus, which grows throughout Central and tropical South America. The heartwood is dull brown with irregular dark brown and black streaking, and the sapwood is creamy white to light golden tan. A pleasing ray or fleck figure is visible in quartersawn stock. Ziricote's grain is generally straight, and its texture is medium to coarse. Good for steam bending and easily worked with machine and hand tools, ziricote has only a slight blunting effect on cutting edges. It takes a smooth finish, polishes well, and holds screws and nails well. Long used by natives for decorative craft objects, ziricote is also used for boat decking, turnings, interior joinery, furniture, cabinets and other light construction.

You find the full info here here.

That's a nice solid looking canoe! Besides being slim, it's also a pattern that is easy to pinch open with your thumb and forefinger. I like this pattern quite a bit. Enjoy!

Boker makes a good knife and your Canoe is very nice. Good choice. Enjoy it.

That sure doesn't look like ziricote. Looks more like ebony, or possibly wenge, to me.

Nice knife!

The last knife I bought was a Böker Congress in Red Bone. I've been overwhelmed by the quality/finish for the money, it's really something. I like the look of this Canoe as well, those wood scales make for sleek lines, thanks for posting.

Boker make a good knife.
Softer opening than US made knives
They sharpen very easily and hold an egde well
The carbon is softer than Case CV
And thier price are excellent!

The Boker Canoe does not compare to the Queen Canoe
The main blade is much thinner and it is a much less sturdy knife
The Queen is a solid work knife
But the Boker Canoe is a nice knife

Red picked bone
