Hi folks. I was looking at this one a while back; The Boker Field Butcher knife 120489. Thought it had merit and was just cool looking. Went back on the net today to check it out again and prices and have read on some sites that Boker has stopped making this model. Anyone know for sure if its no longer available and why? (Other than the fact that its a bit spendy) Thanks.

I can confirm it's discontinued because it shows up that way on several online retailers. Knife models get discontinued all the time, I assume the ones that stay are the ones that sell very well. Anything further is just speculation, but I would say that the knife in question appeared to be a sort of chef's knife for in the field. Most folks would just use an all-purpose camping knife for this task.

My understanding is that it is discontinued. I owned one for a time and used it around camp for food prep. It is a capable blade but on the thick side for food prep, and as you said, it's pricey. My best camp knife so far (for food prep) has been an Ontario (Old Hickory) Cabbage knife that I modded a little to use for skinning whitetails and hogs. It works wonders around hunting camp for everything except wood processing. The thin blade and full flat grind are not strong enough for that.
