Hi,

I recently bought black scales, black clip and black screws for my 8 year old yellow Gemini to give it a more tactical appearance. I am really disappointed of the EDC usability of the black metal parts and wanted to share this experience. I did nothing special with this knife that might have made the black coat fade this fast. I wore it all day clipped into my front/side jeans pocket and used it for cutting stuff. I didn't drop it, didn't kick it across the street.. but after 2 weeks it looks just like that..

It's just paint. The best black clips I know of are the ones on the Spyderco Military and Paramilitary. That stuff must be baked on as paint stripper didn't touch it. I am afraid they all do that. Look at this picture. This is a picture my Army veteran neighbor took in Iraq. Now of course this will have received some very rough service but she's not a combat rifleman nor is the unit she was assigned to. This is a somewhat expensive knife and look at it.

Damn!!! I didn't see that spider when I first looked at the picture trying to find out what knife that is.

Semms to be an Auto Stryker.

That's a Camel Spider by that distinctive head and yes it does have eight legs.
All black hardware will eventually scratch up, but some really are just the equivalent of painting it on. Even Titanium Nitride clips and hardware eventually scratch up/
