Hi All,
My wife and I will become parents so I did not buy nor Douk-Douk nor the Böker Plus Atlas. As You have guessed I had other things to spend money than knives as the pregnancy is growing stronger.
But a few days ago my friend talked with me about Böker Urban Trapper and told me that it is a gentleman knife so the name trapper is only a reference to style and not usage properties.
I don't like those new terms like gent's knife, because for me it means that somebody did a steak knife and try to sell it with a pricer tag than it should be priced.
So I said that knife is a knife and even if you call it gent's it shouldn't change the fact that it would be good and sturdy at some range of sturdiness.
We even make a bet that I will edc one for some time and try it out to see if I'm right.
I will get a Böker Urban Trapper with a backlock in a few days and I got a question for anyone who had one or used one.
Are they realy that delicate that it's going to be a toy or are they like victorinox without tools?
How it compares to Trapper pattern? Does backlock gave it any strenght or durability?

I don’t have the backlock version, but I do have a couple of examples of the original Urban Trapper. As they have flippers, frame/liner locks, and clips I won’t post a photo and run afoul of our rules.

I’d argue against categorizing “gent’s knife” as a new term, as I remember it from periodicals when I was young, and I haven’t been young for quite some time. It was, and is, generally used to describe a knife that was intended for indoor tasks, would carry easily in a pair of lightweight slacks, and was more “refined” in appearance.

I think it would be appropriate to put most of Boker’s Urban Trapper line into this category.

Thank You. I've never thought about it this way. Gent's was for me a term for a knife that is not workhorse but still a knife for a "man"...and in my country there's really not a great traditions of knives.
Said that I now think that it will still be a good all around light-medium task knife.
The blade is bigger and wider than my mini trapper or medium stockman and has a backlock which makes it more... sturdy I guess?

I'm going to move this to General Knife Discussion, as the Urban Trappers have a lot of modern knife characteristics that could be discussed freely in that sub-forum.

https://ibb.co/7pKb35x It's funny because the one I will use is two-handed opening, no flipper, and with a backlock. In G10 and in normal size, not the small one. Böker do not make it anymore. I couldn't find any review of it that's why I decided I will ask here.

Hi again.
I did not wanted to start a new thread or spam post so I've decided to write here.

It has been a long time since I asked about the Böker Urban Trapper Backlock (will write trapper from now on) but I got it and used it since then.

It quickly became my main edc knife thanks to full size blade, great design (old style trapper), weight (which is ultra light) and smooth action (bronze washers with oil and it almost flicks).
I can open it one hand although it's designed to be two handed. And closing it with one hand is also very simple.

The back lock design makes it solid and sturdy, it didn't close while using any time (while Buck 110 slim did).

I changed the g10 scales to cocobolo scales from other Boker (the one with linerlock) and it now looks like it should

Of course I tried other knives to become my edc (sword peasant and opinel 8/9) but Trapper just didn't want to go. So it stays in my pocket everyday.

Now I bought a Zuavo knife from Italy and will see how it will go. But I think that Trapper will defend its place.

I can't upload photos with imgur so I put a link with Böker Urban Trapper BackLock and then with my new handmade Zuavo from Italy and Swordpeasant (regular size).

As You know and/or see SwordPeasant is a great knife (and I value it highly) but a bit bulky as a pocket knife.
The Böker on the other hand is very pocket friendly and is a great edc knife.
As the Zuavo... I have it for a two days now, it's very light, spring is very hard (opening and closing is hard but I think it will loosen a bit in the future) and has this... vintage/retro/old school design which I like.
Will the Zuavo replace Böker in my pocket? Time will tell.
