It was a great show Jeff! I was there on Sat. and it was pretty darned crowded! Getting in early (with membership)was great. Hope you will do that next year as well. Glad we met.

Since Derek Fraley won two awards, does that mean the utility/skinner I got from him last year has doubled its value?

Now what's this about showing in Aug? The BAKCA show has been in Sept. since I can remember anyway... Not that I mind. That means its only 10 months away now!

Matthew,

Yep, the date is correct. And all though this year show has not been put to rest. We are working towards next year show in small steps. There is the club members choice for the 24th annual club knife, advertising to set up and place orders for cups and pens.
It was great to meet you at the show, I apologize for not slowing down and talking to you more but after getting all the ducks in a row, I still had to get them to move along.
I hope to see you at the December club meeting where we will have a pot luck dinner. I'll bring the deep fried turkeys.

That's awesome! So next year it won't be the weekend before school starts! :) Better start saving up now!

Jeff was a great show. Luana, and I had a fantastic time, and even signed up for membership while there. It was our first BAKCA Show, and will not be our last.
Most said it was like a mini-Oregon Show, and we both agree, and that is a feather in your cap.
We were there both days, all day, and had a great time.
I see Vagnino won 2 awards, and being fitting I bought a prototype titanium framelock gents folder with S30V steel, and carbon fibre scales which was just what I was looking for, and his workmanship was so good that is why I bought it from him. Great guy, and nice wife. Am not surprised about the 2 awards as his workmanship is excellent.
We had such a great time, and ended up buying 3 knives from various knifemakers while there. Everyone was so great, and friendly, and the show went so smooth without a hitch that I could see. Also enjoyed the rope cutting exhibition.
Thanks again, and hope to meet you next year when we go.

Larry

I was at the show on saturday afternoon, unfortunately I didn't get to meet you all but then theres always next years show. The maker who impressed me the most was James Whitehead, his artwork beautiful and the type of person I inspire to become one day. I enjoyed the show, but it was a little depressing for me cause I am on disability and the insurance check I get is just peanuts and so had no money to spend there. Then again if I had some I would have been bankrupt by the time I left.

James Whitehead is a hands down great miniature knife maker. And with his talent at engraving, his work is difficult to beat for sole authorship. James does other knife makers engraving, like Mick Penfold. If you ever see the Guinn's miniature display, you will see a lot of Mr. Whitehead's pieces that will amaze you.
