I purchased a knife at the Oregon show a few years back from a maker who's name was either Bill or Bob Draper. The knife is a beautiful fixed handle, full tang with an elk bone handle (I think). It is marked "B. Draper Big Piney Wy.". He said his dad was a professional maker of some repute, as I recall.

I am about to sell this knife and am trying to find out some history of the maker and his family.

Can anyone steer me to the maker or give me some info?

Thanks, DanD Tuftonboro, NH

Bart Draper of the famous Draper knife making family. Son of Harvey Draper, brother of Kent. He's been around since the mid 60's, and might be still working. He's out in Arizona now, though.

TThe Draper's learned under Gil Hibben, and their most famous knives were the Elmer Keith design.

Thanks Bob. That's what Mike Draper thought, too. Just got a note back from him.

"I believe it's probably Bart Draper, son of Harvey Draper. Here's a link to an interview with S.R. Johnson, he knew Harvey and the boys...
