Brian and I are working on a knife for a fellow forumite (bishop). It's for a friend of bishop's who is going to Iraq I believe. Brian will do the profiling, HTing and final sharpening, I'm doing the grinding and a friend of bishop's is doing the handle work. Here's a pic so far. I'm not much of a flat grinder, but it's coming along pretty well so far. Brian please chime in with other details I may have missed.

Scott,
Can't go wrong with you and Brian on the job:thumbup: Can't wait to see it all finished up!

Looking good so far. Since Brian is working on it i am assuming it is 01 steel :D What kind of handle material and fastening (screws or pins) is it going to have?

You gessed it...0-1 :) 3/16" stock. The pattern was sent to me. It was a full scale wood constructed pattern that had a false edge on it. THis one wont have that. I raised the handle up away from the edge some and lengthened the handle but it pretty much is dead on what Bish sent me.

Looks great Scott!!!

Speaking of that wood pattern, did you make that Brian? That would make a good looking wall hanger.:D

Bish made the wood pattern...he needs steel huh ;)
Yeah. He did a nice job on it. I wonder what his asking price for it is.:D

Sorry I can't take credit for that pattern But thanks. Jason Magruder worked with me for months to get it just the way I wanted it. This knife is going to a good friend of mine named Mike. He joined the ARMY at this great time and I wasnt real happy about it to tell the truth. He asked me to come up with a knife idea that he could bring with him and trust. Although i'm not what you would call a newbie to knives I am to designing them. I found Jason here on the forums and he talked me into giving it a try than worked with me all the way. I orderd a knife from him but he has been busy with is family and work so mine has been put on hold for some time. My friend saw what I came up with and wanted/needed one like now!! So Knowing Brian Goode and having a few of his knives I had knew he could help me get this project done and done right. We tossed the idea around and he brought up Scott Gossman's name and told me to ask if he would help. I also have one of his knives and knew it was the right choice. I asked him and he didn't even take a moment to think about it. He said yes and this is the result.
The main idea was to have three made. One for me and one for each of my "brothers". This has been great and working with these two has been one of the coolest times in my life. My hat is off to all three of these fine men. Thank you my friends....

hey Bish - I just got the knife back from Scott today and will be grinding just a little more on it. I'll HT it next week and send it back to Scott to clean up :)

Want to sell the wood mock up to Scott :)

Glad it made it to you Brian. Flat grinding is not my usual method but I figured you could straighten it up before you HT. Should end up a good servicable blade.
