I am looking at trading my Military for an 880SP. I wanted to know any comments? I love the military, but also like the 880Sp alot too. Any concerns about the 880? I usally carry more than one knife (U.S. Military habit) so a thin cutting edge is of no concern. I maily looking for durability and ruggedness. Thanks.

for durability and ruggedness, you can't beat the 880SP. The lock was tested and failed at 900lbs. No other production knife and VERY few customs will make it to a third of that. They don't come much tougher....hope that helps....Jim :D

It does I was just inquiring because I really like the Military I just am afraid of breaking the tip if the situation goes to hades. I need something very reliable, a backup to my Ken Onion Blur incase things go wrong. :D

The tanto tip WILL NOT BREAK!! It also is'nt sharp for that reason. It was meant to pierce metal cans and such. The SP is almost as tough...you'd have to bury the tip and torque it to hell to break it. I carry the 880SP as well as the mini SP and IMHO, they will not fail. They are as close to a fixed blade as I've seen in a folder...Jim :)
