This is the second of my two posts.
Came home with what looks to be a late 19th century or early 20th century axe.
Only markings are: B&T Co. (regular stamped letters, not a logo), with a small anchor stamped next to the text.
Text runs on right side of the head, very close to the poll and in the same direction of the poll.
Only other stamping is on the underside of the axe next to the handle under the poll. It reads 3 3/4, which I am guessing is the weight. Head is fairly slim with a narrow eye. 7-1/2 inches long with 5-1/2 inch edge from toe to heel. Old looking (dark wood) handle with scroll style knob (roughly 32 inches).
Head is similar to dayton pattern. Very slight taper at top edge to match bottom. Almost symmetrical. No Beard.
My question is if anyone had heard of this axe brand before and might the weight be a tell tale sign as to the country of origin? I checked both my axe books and found no clues.
Any help appreciated.
Thank you.
