I am curious how the two compare side by side so I can decide if I want to try to trade out a B11 for a B10 without the choil.

Any Hogs out there that can accommodate this request, please?

Thanks,
Tim

I forgot to also ask for your thoughts on which is better, hence the recommendation part of the title. :o

The choiless B10 is really, really nice, but I don't think I would give up my B11 for it.

Yup, that definitely helps show what I have wondered for months, so thank you very much Al.
I agree on the B11 being the keeper of the two, even though I like the non hot compression molded version of the handle better.
It confirms I made the right decision on passing up the 10 and waiting for the 8, but I just hope it is offered without a choil as well. ;)

? Can you explain for the rest of us?

I can try, but I am no expert and I am only explaining what I have deduced from using the res-c handled blades, so I could be wrong.

As far as I can tell, the old style basic handle and the new larger softer LE handle start out as the same handle but you either get the classic Basic style and the Basic LE/Swamp Rat/Scrap Yard version from it.
Simply take the large one and squish only the areas that look different from the unmolded one, in an ever so slightly smaller (only in the specifically different areas) mold hot enough to burn the texture smooth with thumb grooves and a logo which yields you the neat looking old style basic handle instead of the cheaper softer and more comfortable (IMHO) one.
No one told me this as I figured it out by accident after my wife left my asym B11 on top of the step top wood stove  which made the untouched soft textured part behind the tube fastener smooth and hard like the spine, butt and belly already was. :(
Keep in mind, my wood stove top is not machined super smooth and must have been a little dirty at the time when you look at this pic.

He could also just be injecting the res-c into a different mold with the same end result, but from my experience around it so far I don't see how else the smooth hard portions and especially the logo/thumb grooves would get that way without being burned since it apparently shrinks/hardens with exposure to several hundred degrees of heat, so it would be easier to just press the already plentiful SR/SY handles into a hot compression mold shaped just like the old Basics.
The heat being so high, by proximity automatically somewhat hardens the textured areas so they don't feel as soft/squishy yet they still look very similar to the "larger" handle.

We all know Jerry is a smart guy and he keeps his materials cost lower by using the same parts for multiple applications so if I am right then the newer handle is at least one less step to make than the old ones which helps him pass the savings on to us. ;)

Now I just need him to make a choiless Basic 8 so that I have the perfect one knife solution to try to oust the SAR 6 & SARsquatch from sharing that title in my collection of users. :D
Bring it Boss!!
