I have both and love them. My question to those that have both....if you were shrinking the collection to only users, do you keep both? Can either serve the same purpose just as well? I know I am only kidding myself to think that I can get by with just one or the other...I love them both. But, looking for feedback.....

Tough call since the B10 is choilless.
The B11 is still longer, heavier and a better chopper, but the choil can get in the way once in a while.
The B10 has the better handle and no choil so I would say you can't go wrong with either.

I have been very happy with my B11's and gave one to a very close friend as his only Busse.

I have the B-11 and B-10 without choil (sold the one with choil.). Personally, if I were thinning the heard of res-c choppers, I'd get rid of the Basic 10 LE and keep the B-11. I'd do this because I would never sell my Dog Father LE or CG.

The B-10 is a great knife and you could definitely make the argument to keep both if you find yourself in situations where every ounce matters. As slick as the B10 is, the B-11 is the king of the res-c choppers.

I'd rather keep both though.

If you get rid of your basic 11 you WILL regret it. Guaranteed. Take it from a guy who's sold a few Busses that he's regretted selling.

Yeah. I've learned that "No Regrets" only applies to buying blades, not selling them. Out of all that I've sold, I miss 3 the most: SAR 6 LE; Scrap Muk LE; and the only Jungle DF I've ever seen.

If I ever had to purge my INFI collection, I could never bring myself to part with my Basic 11/Basic 4 piggyback. And my NMSFNO. And my ASH-1 SE. Ok and maybe 5 or 6 others. The B-11 would be the last to go though.

Knives are for keeping. Blood, plasma, kidneys, children... these are all for selling (to get more knives)

BTW... FLUX, post a pic of your piggyback setup in the piggyback thread i posted earlier :)

Thanks for the feedback guys. I agree, I could never get rid of my B11. And for now, the B10 is staying too! The B10, however, could be used as trade fodder in the future....maybe towards a SAR 8!

I've owned multiples of both and the B11 does not have any longer of a cutting edge than the B10 choiless. For that one reason the B10 is the only one I still have. That said the B11 is a bad azz knife that wont be topped by the B10 in chopping but I wish it had the handle of the B10. I wish I could find the comparison pic's I took of them.

dtmbinb,

I am in the keep them both camp. You can always get rid of one when the other stands out as a clear favorite. They are both so great, I own multiples of both models.

I have both versions of the B10LE, and am casually looking to purchase an asymmetric B11. The B11 is so highly praised that I feel I need one.
As for thinning the collection, that is tough. They are both great knives. I am of little help on this one.

I've got a b10 and b11. The b10 hasn't been used yet, I just can't see that it can do anything better than the genius that is the b11.

But I'd have to be nuts to sell the b10! It's awesome. :D

I think I stand in the tiny minority of those who would choose the choiless b10. The basic 11 was impressive, but on hardwoods I just couldn't get the angle down to where it wouldn't shock my hand. It's great, but the b10 is more compact, more streamlined, and fills a better spot amongst my other knives (I have a CS TTKZ, a svord light machete, and a proto BOSS Jack, the b11 was getting a bit close to the TTKZ).

But, I would not fault either choice.

I don't have a B11, only the choil-less B10, so perhaps I should just shut up, but I will add my 2 cents anyway.

For me the B10 is just about the perfect large field knife - as much edge as you should ever need in a very light and compact package. I have no doubt that the B11 is a better chopper, but for me the primary use of a large field knife is not hard chopping, it is slashing / light chopping and batonning. A folding saw of some variety is a much more efficient way of getting through a large piece of wood across the grain. So as a real-world user in the boonies, I would go for the B10 (+ saw + small blade).

Having said that, big choppers are fun to play with. I'm not looking to buy a B11, as I doubt it would provide that much more than the B10, but if Busse came out with a B12-14, I would be all over it.

way too hard of a decision for me. Id let a lot of other things go before Id let go of my last B11 or B10s. They are the perfect thing to have stashed around. I keep a B11, some guns, ammo, and gear at my parents' house.

It actually gets more use than any of mine because its the only one over there, and I don't need to take anything over there if the kids want to make a fire or something with grandpa. Plus I like to think about keepers for the kids as they grow up and the B10 just seems perfect for that

Just got a Basic 10 choiless and could not be happier. It was a tough decision to sell my B11 it was my first ganzaaa knife. The handle was great and it is a great light chopper. I look at it primarily as a dedicated chopper although light enough to be versatile. Now that I have the B 10 choiless I think this knife will be even more versatile. The new handle is as good or better than the old. I like the new slight taper of the top line to the tip. The double cut finish will be better for food prep and even though it's only 1" shorter and 3 oz. lighter it defiantly has a different feel to it. Its more nimble like your favorite 10' kitchen knife. It will be better suited for me for cutting up king salmon and processing deer etc. I can see this knife getting a lot more use and not looked at as solely a chopper.

I wish I had both.

Something about the B10 choiless, and satin makes me smile. I have the B11, and if I ever damage the handle, I would be happy to swap it out for the newer handle, just to try it out.

Owning both would be nice. I was slow to sell my B11 because of the handle but the new B10 is just slightly larger and hard to notice a difference.

I believe that you can send your B11 in to have the handle swapped out for a B10 handle.
