I'm trying to decide between the b11 and nmbm.
Would someone mind measuring the blade length for both, and your impressions if you've used both of them?
I'm going to be using it as a machete more or less and I don't have a Busse in this weight class yet.

I'm going to be using it as a machete more or less...

Based on this statement, the Basic 11 is the knife you'd want. While I don't have a B11, I imagine the NMFBM to be a much heavier knife which will hinder it's performance when used as a machete.

If you are looking for more of a Machete class knife, definitely the B11. The 1/4 inch thick spine combined with the Res C handle make for a much more nimble knife for lighter stuff.

The NMFBM will win in an all out, power is important chopping fest, where you have a solid target, and can swing harder without burying it in your shin.

I don't have a NMFBM, but would love one. I do have a FBMLE with a convex edge, and a B11, and a KzII now.

The B11 is much lighter in the hand than either the NMFBM, or the FBMLE, or the KzII.

The B11 is a great knife because you get excellent chopping power, comfy handle for shock cushion, and a much more carry friendly over all weight.

I have owned both. You definitely want the B11. The NMFBM is a pure chopper. Very blade heavy.

I have both and have used both .... the NMFBM has a slightly longer blade but more weight ....around 28 - 30 oz's .... the Basic 11 is only 16 oz's and in a machete role is the obvious choice .... you can use the NMFBM like this but it is more of a chopper than a machete brush clearing knife ....

go for the b-11, you won't be disapponted. it's light, nimble, comfy, and busse tough! you can chop through just about anything you come across.

Right on Ogre!;) I have both also, and for machete type work it's the B11 - no doubt about it!:D:thumbup:

what's up tom.

blade length from tip to grip 11 1/8"

total blade from choil to tip 9 3/4"

final percentage of useability and whoopass =103%
