B13 BG vs 1311

Probably the B13 because of the Bolo design-either would get the job done-I will take the Infi version first every time-especially if the price difference is only $100 dollars are so difference

I have obviously never used a B13; however, I got to do a fair amount of chopping with a 1311 last weekend and it was quite impressive.

The 1311 set the 13ar for the BB13 to 13eat, and I 13et it will. ;)

Gotta give the edge to B13... looks like its blade offers more weight for more momentum chopping... and ya might get "a little" of the Kukari slicing effect.. but both rock!!

I only ask because I have the 1311 and ordered the CG b13 but am awfly tempted by the BG b13

It looks like there might be a 1/4" more handle on the BB13, I don't know if that'll be significant difference or not but the 1311 handle is a tad short for me.

I have almost ordered the b13 twice. I have the 1311. I know the bg will out chop the already impressive 1311. But I use my 1311 for only one purpose. Long distance backpacking where wood needs to be processed. Now weight is the number one issue and the weight to chopping ratio is great for the 1311. I thinks it's 17oz. The bg version will prob be at least 21 or 22 ounces. The blade is 2.5 wide while the 1311 is like 1.5. So for me the extra 4-6 ounces more it will prob weigh will not be worth the extra chopping. On the other hand, it's beautiful and prob very effective.

Edit: ok I just ordered a BG. My wallet hates me

Unless the handle is a new mold, the handle on the 1311 and the BB13's should be the same size. If they are 1/4" longer, I'm gonna send Jerry some fresh hydration as soon as it arrives!!!

I might be wrong but it looks like there's 4.75" difference between the blade and over length on the 1311, 5" difference on the BB13.

The 1311 has been my primary Yard Work tool for a while now. I am so impressed with it that I will get a couple B13's. I love Res-c above all other handles, I can go for quite some time and not get blisters or hot spots.

The Busse crew isn't known for their accuracy with blade measurements.

1311 is far superior, in my opinion. The main reason is that the B13 is too thick, but I also don't like recurves.

I'm guessing that you jumped to the CG B13...the OP asked about the BG B13 vs the 1311. Unless I misread, both are the same thickness. (Yes, the CG is thicker)

I'm still contemplating the CG, myself. I guess I haven't drunk the kool-aid, but I'm not obsessed with INFI. Granted, that could be due to a lack of experience with it. I'm not going to say anything against INFI; I just know that I'm unlikely to push SR101 beyond its limits. Part of me wants to try INFI in a blade this size...part of me says there no need to spend the extra money, especially with the non-optional, tan only handle.
I'm hoping that the masses which have been clamoring for the B13 buy them out in record time - taking the decision out of my hands.

The Battle Grade was a no-brainer. The INFI version is tempting but honestly if I spend the coin on it I'll probably sit on it, beat on the SR-101 version, then send the INFI down the road. Like you said, nothing against it but I don't think I'll be cutting any cinder blocks in half so the BG should do everything I want. Hell, I'd jump on this knife if it was 1075, and do it happily. Regardless of the steel though, I've preferred the thinner stock between the ChopHouses and the 1311 and 1111. I've got a CGFBM hopefully arriving tomorrow, a DT BM on order, and a 2nd Gen BM Ergo on order, there's just gonna have to be some housecleaning amongst those. I don't think any of the Res-C choppers I already have will be going anywhere though.

Res-C is where it's at. Machined micarta or G10 might look better, but I don't think anyone can honestly say that it feels or works better.

The CG is 80% of a MOAB for 20% of the price,, and still INFI, so it is also a no-brainer to me.

I bet it will also outchop the NMFBM at slightly less weight and still significantly less cost.

BG vs 1311, I think there will be a pretty big difference in heft even though they are the same thickness

Do not worry, wait until Saturday, they will be all gone
