Hey all!

I've been looking for a good knife to have on my belt when I go out hiking. Right now I carry an F1 but I've been looking at the BA-E for over a year and I think I really love the model. Does anyone have a user they'd like to share some thoughts on?

It would be teamed up with a new BWM (for any chopping / clearing) and an Izula neck knife (for those just-need-a-quick-cut situations).

Well, the little sucker's a tank !

I've not EDC'd it, but i play with it from time to time :o:foot:

.250" thick. same handle as the other Ergo's (you either love em or you don't, I'm an E fan)

You wouldn't be under knifed, it'll take anything you could thow at it, or throw it at.

next to a SAR4

One of my BAe's helped field dress and process a couple dozen deer last year and I can say that it performed better than any of the others I used during that season. I used quite a few different Busse, Swamp, and others and the BAe blew them all away.

Not going hunting this year by the looks of it so its serious widthdrawl right now. :(

Here's my three, the user is on the left:

Come on Hogs, theres got to be more opinions out there. Been considering trying to find one of these BA-E's my own self. Lets hear some more opinions please,,,

Those are some sweet BA-E's Leatherman. :)

No experience with the BA-E specifically, but I do LOVE the ergo handles. I think I would like just about any knife with an ergo. Very comfortable.

Nice pics guys!!

The BA-E just seems like a perfect all around survival knife. I'd considered the NO-E also, but I think the BA is a better fit with the rest of my gear.

Eventually I'll track down both, I hope.

Thanks for all the info guys! I hope to hear more about this one!

Now go to: Wanted To Buy.
Good luck.

I hear that, are there no more users out there? I'm very curious about this knife. As of right now I'm planning on it being my 3rd Busse, as the first 2 will be the BWM and a skeleton GW!

I love the ergo handles, but the TAC handles are very comfortable too, and a BATAC will be a LOT easier to find. Just a thought...

 " a couple dozen deer" !?! That's a lot of hunting. I'll take some venison of your hands, if you're tired of eating it. :D

It was a group effort, six of us all with full tags. Lots of hunting land last year, almost all gone this year. One of the best spots was unmolested ranch land a couple of hours to the north. We basically went hunting every weekend for two months, at least two of us brought something in. One night a group dropped off five deer that they didn't want, just wanted to hunt, not the nasty part. :p

I just held ergo handled knives for the first time two weeks ago. They are great. Felt awesome in my hand.

The BA-E is an awesome specimen, and my personal favorite of all the ergo handled models. There's just something about the handle to blade proportions on that one that seems pretty close to perfection for me.

I bought one in 1995 specifically for deer hunting. However, I decided quickly that it is too heavy and thick to carry for field dressing chores, and it became a safe queen.
I now consider the AD or the ABA LE to be superior to the BA-E for this task.

It is strange to me that no one ever talks about the SW Bandicoot as a deer hunting knife, as it seems almost ideal, as well. n fact, as an outdoor all-rounder, for both hunting and fishing, I don't think that one could do much better than a 'Coot.

The BA-E has an over sized handle compared to the over all size of the knife.

This makes it about the easiest to control small knife so far made by this company.

The flatness of the handle makes this knife not twist in the hand.

Stability and control are the virtues of this knife.

Butt heavy and over all weight are it's bad points.

I gave one to my Daddy In-law earlier this year, He is very happy with it.

I have to strongly agree with everything said here. The BA-E will obviously work, but there are other readily available Busse options that will make the job easier and probably quicker.

I remember the BA-E scramble I had with gimmejr. Sabotaging each others WTB threads. Slander. (the good old days).

:p

I found tho that the NO-E was just right for me. Just a preference. But the BA-E is awesome.

Of the E-series, the Steel Heart is my favorite. It's just a nice all-around mid-sized blade with better balance than the BA-E and a similarly comfortable grip. The E's were a bit shorter than the straights before them and the TACs that followed. So the SH-E is really more of a 7" blade. I like mine as a hip knife for hiking IF it's only going to be a one-blade venture.

If I'm toting a larger chopper like a BM, then I tend to go smaller than a BA-E on the smaller blade--something like an AD, a Culti, or an LM.

That said, if you've been looking at the BA-E for a year, then you should get one and try it. The BA-E's, being harder to find, should be pretty easy to sell if you decide you don't like it.

I have been having a hard time finding them for sale. I don't think I'd ever sell it though, even if I didn't like something about it. I'm one that's more prone to gift it to someone who would use it. My very first knife was a Buck 119 Special, gave that to a buddy that was moving out of state.
