BA3 Sheath ?????

I just received a new BA3 that I purchased from a fellow BFer. (Did you notice that I didn't say BSer?) There was no paper with the knife and the sheath has me stumped. I assume that the cord with the tab and snap on one end is supposed to retain the knife, but the only way I can see it working is to wrap the cord around the knife handle. That doesn't seem right. Any ideas?

By the way, I really like this knife. The only thing that I would like to see on it is a tapered tang. I think that would improve the balance and it wouldn't feel so "clunky" in the hand. Of course, that's just my opinion.
