This is the outside of the shell,it's been stabilized by the expert,Dewain Batten.
I've used quite a lot of armadillo hide for knife scales but this baby stuff is the prettiest I've seen.
If the baby is too young it's shell is not hard. It's difficult to find wild baby armadillos that are old enough for the shell to be hard and still small enough to have the small pattern like you see here.

Yes it is real baby armadillo hide,its been stabilized and I had to back it with black G-10,.030" thick.
