OK. I've had a chance to play with the Baby Ganga Ram for a few days and here's a short review. The stats are as advertised - 16 inches overall, 2 & 3/8 wide, 7/16 thick and weighs 1 & 3/4 pounds. This puts the blade slighty wider than the 15" AK and with considerably more "belly." The curve on the spine is very nicely radiused - no angular drop as with the AK. I'm not sure quite how to describe the visual effect other than to say it's curvaciously smooth - it looks cool! The blade is straight, symetrical, nicely polished and came sharp. The handle is nicely done - the fit and fininsh are very good. It's the first wood model for me and I think I prefer it over the horn. The scabbard and superfrog are very high quality - although the scabbard leaves the last 3/8th of the blade exposed. No big deal - it's tight. The karda and chakma are ok - quality about normal for HI. Performance wise - it works just like a 15" AK. It chewed up a bunch of palm fronds with gusto and hacked cleanly through a large carpet tube with little effort. It would be deadly on soft targets. For most utility work I can't see any performace differance with the 15" AK. Where it might have an edge is if you used it to skin or slice - the slightly larger "belly" might prove more useful. Perhaps this is totally subjective but the "Ram" feels better balanced than the AK even at similar weights. It's feels "quicker" in my hand. I think the "Ram" might best be described as a "drop-point" AK. IMHO, if you like curves, it looks much "sexier" than the AK. I'm very happy with it! So what does the parent "Ram" look like?
