Just got my Baby GRS from the DOTD 01/10. :D

14.5", 23 ounces compact but solid and it feels Great!!!

Here it is next to a 14", 19 ounce BDC for comparison.
I Moded it a bit with the Dremel. Sanded some off the diameter behind the bolster and cut some extra lines across it for a better grip. Now it will not twist in my hand if I hit something. :D

This little guy has a nice feel to it. Feels much more solid than a BDC, like it could do some serious damage for it's small size.
This one will stay in the Truck with me just in case the Zombies attack :D :D

I'm intrigued by the idea of a short khuk with substantial weight. Let us know how it chops. You may have a real wilderness friend there.

This is the only short Khuk I have that really feels like it can do some serious chopping. And I have 2 different 14" BDCs, a 12" Sirupati, Katunje My Special and a SGT. The balance, weight and nice full belly make this one of the "Got to have" short Khuks.

I hope they will make more of these.

Munk,

My favorite khuk, the bonecutter I posted a pic of in the Terri Sisco thread is like 16" and I think 25 or 26oz, and it is damn near perfect. Has the chopping power of a larger khuk but (for me) seems easier on my hand an arm when chopping because of the short size.

I have way too many Ganga Rams now, but I have really had to restrain myself from buying one of these shorter heavier ones just to see if the ergonomics and chopping power is like the Bonecutter.

I got the one yesterday (15" 22oz hill wallnut). Planning to send it to my old dad. I may send him the 18" one instead, and keep this one though. He's on the farm, and could use it for chopping and splitting, as they do lots of that work so the heavier one may be better for him. The GRS is my favoirite design up to this point. I think if my FF was a little heavier it would replace it. I haven't been able to take them out in a head to head chopping battle kinda thing though. I think I'd be worried using my FF to pry, whereas I can't think of anything I'd be scared to do with my GRS.

I have a DOTD FF on the way and I will do a head to head comparison with pixx;)

My only concern is it seems to me a lot of fullered khuks, like the YCS have too steep of an edge. I am hoping the FF will be a bit finer edged.

The tree I pictured in my cutting technique thread is still there and very symmetrical. I could time how quickly I could chop thru both as an experiment. There are a lot of variables, so it wouldn't be 100% scientific, but would give us a rough estimate of difference in relative chopping efficiency assuming that there was a significant difference in the time it took to make it thru.
