My BGRS arrived yesterday! Everything I expected and more. Beautiful heavy blade with a soul of it's own. Now that I have an HI khuk in hand it will be much easier for me to figure out which one I want next. Probably a Sirupati in 18" or 20" size. Maybe a BAS. Killian (my wife) likes the look of those and might become infected with HIKV if she is exposed!
Thanks to uncle Bill for making my first Khuk purchase so pleasant, and to all of you on the forum for making me feel so welcome!

I know exactly how you feel, was there just last week...enjoy, because we've just started and it get's better yet!

Patrick IMO you got one of the best khukuris H.I. has too offer in the BGRS model.
Mine has rapidly became one of my all time favorites!!!!
And all the khukuris in this size are again, IMO, the best all around using sizes there are.
Evidently Blues feels the same way since he traded his GRS in for a YCS.

But don't sell the little 12"-15" models short.
I gave Barb the 15" AK that Bro 1st sent me since I already had my heart set on an 18"AK and she loves it even if it doesn't get used much.
Perhaps a 15" Sirupati for your wife may be in order.
They are really cute little things and being on the lighter side weight wise easier for some of the ladies to carry and use.?.?

"VEGETARIAN".............
Indin word for lousy hunter.

Yvsa's on the mark with his advice per usual.

Had I had a baby GRS, I probably wouldn't have had a khukuri to trade for the YCS.

Having a range from 12" on up to 18.5" gives one an opportunity to appreciate the unique personalities of each size and style.

'Course, as Rusty will tell you, I'd not recommend calling my Sher made 12" Sirupati "little" anywhere within earshot! That dog has a lot of fight in it.

Ysva, your YCS would have been my first choice but I am a little tight on funds. The BGRS is a fine blade but something a little lighter would probably serve me better. The deep fullering of the YCS must make it very lively in the hand! I now think the WWII 16.5 or the 18in Sirupati would be more my speed for a using/carrying kuhk until I can afford a YCS. Maybe even a BAS.
As for ladies, your advice is probably dead on for most women but not my wife. She is of old-line Prussian ancestory and is built like a strapping German farm girl. I'm sure she could whip around a 20in Sirupati like a hickory switch without much effort.Oops, with that description I had better add she is the most understanding and generous mate a man could ask for! And smart too! She has her MFA!
Hope she never sees this.

LOL!

Patrick, Barb is half Polish and not an overly large framed lady, but she does have a lot of fight and could always hold her own with me. Now she can kick my butt and I know it.

And Barb can handle my large GRS without much problem.
And although Barb doesn't have the formal education she is one smart lady.
She knows how to handle me and that ain't always an easy thing to do.

But I still tell our closest friends and family that if we had of had kids we would have to have named them Runnin' Dummy-1, Runnin' Dummy-2 and so on.

(Please, no one take offense at this since we do joke about these things among ourselves.)

There's actually an advantage in being stereotyped as being a dumb ndn or dumb Pollack. It doesn't take much effort to make people think you don't understand what they mean, so they will leave you alone and get someone else to do their dirty work.
biggrin.gif

It worked for me for years unless I happened to slip up and people found out that I wasn't always quite as dumb as I sometimes acted.
biggrin.gif

And so many think that us ndns are so very stoic and have no sense of humor.

Yvsa, the not so dumb ndn that acts that way still sometimes for laughs.
