Hey guys,

My wife is set to be induced on Saturday at 8 or so pm. This will be my first child and I am ecstatic. My wife has PCOS and we were unsure if we would be able to carry a baby to term. We hit a home-run in the first conception, thankfully. Many people are not as fortunate as we have been. Hoping for a smooth delivery. I can’t wait to meet my daughter.

Anyhow, to mark this occasion, I wonder if I could get a small thread going on what you folks may have been carrying that fateful day your child was born? Pics always welcome.

Thanks a ton, guys.

First of all I wish you three the best for the birth and that all goes well :)

I honestly can’t remember which knife I was carrying when my daughter was born. It was probably either a Victorinox Pioneer or a Victorinox Spartan either with wood scales or blue transparent cellidor scales.

Congrats! My daughter was born on 8/17. We had to induce a little bit early and this is our first, so it was all a little scary. Hoping the best for you three.

Had my small Sebenza on me. Still very sleep deprived these days, but much better than those first few weeks.

My wife was induced about a month early and delivered by emergency c-section at the end around midnight.
With all excitement, nervousness, and fatigue, I did not have time to touch my knife there, but had a SAK in a belt pouch.
Son was small but healthy.
It was 14 years ago, and now he is curious about Euler's identity (e^i*pi+1=0)!

Oh, and he's got his first knife from a Swiss friend this year.
SAK of course!

My daughter was born 30 years ago and I went straight to the hospital from work. Back then I carried a Fairbairn–Sykes commando knife in my brief case , so that's what I had in the hospital

Yesterday at 2pm my daughter had a baby boy, my first grand child. I was carrying this Buck 112, It will be his when he is older.

Thank you all so much for the well-wishes. Congratulations to all the new parents. I’m so nervous, but I’m very excited.

And a huge congrats to your family and the new grandchild. My parents are also thrumming with excitement. It will be their first grandchild and my sister’s first niece/nephew. It’s a good time, but stressful.

OP, congrats on the incoming family.
Bunch of cute kids in this thread. Great pictures.
But, what sent me googling was Euler's Identity. Wow. At 14? Good luck keeping up with that one!

On the days my two arrived (10 years and a couple months apart)

I had a Old Timer 7OT on my belt along with a Imperial(?) stockman and a "Demo" knife in my pocket.

(Both of my offspring were grown long before Schrade USA closed their doors.)

In both cases the doctor didn't ask to borrow my knife. :(

Congratulations on the new arrival, it’s an incredible experience.

Congrats on the new arrival. My wife had pcos . Our little girl was born in 2009. I had a 301 buck and a med case CV stockman with me. I carried that combo for years . I still have both knives. The 301 was in my pocket the day we got married.

No idea what was in my pockets, but likely a SAK. I have since gotten 2 custom Buck 110s commemorating both of my kids (names and dates on the bolsters, year on the blade). Cherry wood scales for my daughter, and buffalo horn for my son. Both with silver nickel bolsters.

Congrats on becoming father's to each of you that have just started the journey!

I think I’ll be carrying my mini commander. My parents got it for me a while back and I’ve carried it through my college graduation, my first date with my wife, my marriage, and now my child’s birth. We go in tonight at 8pm. My God, it’s nerve wracking. Haha.

Brad Southard was allowed by the doctor to cut the umbilical cord with his custom knife specifically made for that purpose.
I don't think I would do it, but thought it was a cool story.
