I know that one side of my blade is sharp and the other ain't. Beyond that...I'm a knife noob! Gotta start somewhere so....went for a hike with the family into the woods to start scouting for deer season hunting spots. Took my new 16 out for the first time and fashioned a walking staff for my wife.

You seem to have forgotten your pictures good sir. Surely this was an oversight on your part. We will wait patiently whilst you rectify this.

:)

Much better! The 16 is one of those that will prove to be incredibly versatile the more you use it. Good on you for getting out there and using it, and welcome to our little corner of the asylum. Watch out for Guyon. He bites but he means well. Stick around, post up more pics of that 16 getting used, and you will find a new home on the internets here.

oh....and I'm not that camera savvy either....
(it's probably that I was shaking with new knife excitement that made the pic all blurry)

I just found a perfect perch to hunt from inside a pile of scrap logs. The spot overlooks an area recently logged, but...for some reason they didn't clear-cut it and left an amount of trees standing that'll put bambi at ease to spend time nosing around. I'm gonna go back up there tomorrow and spend some time with the 16 clearing all the little pokie sticks that'd cause me to move around more'n I should. I'll take some more...hopefully in-focus pics then.
BTW- that rifle will have a 5rd mag in it and if I'm fortunate...will put meat in the canning jars this season. The 16 will be tasked with the cleaning/skinning.

Ah, another fellow Oregonian (though I'm a little removed for the time being...)!

The plan sounds like a good one, more picks when you get them.

Now you need a BK9. You can't not have a BK9.

Ah, gotta love Oregon. The state that lets you hunt with AK's and AR's. So unlike our unruly cousins to the North.

I went out on Friday and did some 'prep work' on the hunting spot. I probably should've used a small saw, but....it was more fun removing the small sticks with the 16. I've got a good feeling about this spot. Furthest shot will be about 210yds, but the most likely shots will be 100yds or less. I found 3 trails the deer are using and there's plenty of poop of various 'ages' indicating they travel through on a regular basis. The road hunters will be passing by less than 10yds from where I'll be sitting, but it's unlikely they'll even look down at this area with more than a glance.
