Got a house full of toddlers, been using baby wipes alot and started using them to clean my gear, knives, guns, etc. They work great for general cleaning of surface parts and do not seem to cause rust, these things are awesome. The only draw back is that my multi tool now smells like a clean baby, oh well trade offs.

Has anyone else every used baby wipes to clean their knives and other metal gear?

When the kids were in diapers I used them a lot for wiping stuff. They were handy and we had little packs and pop-up boxes everywhere. One in each car, in the bathrooms, the diaper bags, a few that floated from room to room.

I agree they are handy and work good for cleaning. We always used the unscented types.

Now that the youngest is out of diapers I do not miss them at all. I have enough cleaning gear for my hunting and fishing gear.

I like the Armour All wipes for the car.

I keep a few clean rags or towels in the cars. Never know what the kids are going to do.

Baby wipes are moistened with a water-based solution. I would certainly oil after using them!
Edit: oil the knives after you clean them with baby wipes. There should be no reason to use oil on your.....nevermind.

Because my work has often taken me to places where you could expect to run into unsanitary conditions (and that's a gross understatement) I've carried antiseptic wipes with my gear and in my vehicles and BOB for years. When you have them available, it's pretty amazing the number of creative uses you find for them.

I use baby wipes for a lot of stuff too, including cleaning guns. They work well for cleaning diamond abrasive surfaces too (like sharpening stones and rods).
