Yesterday, the brown truck dropped off my baby's first Spyderco:

A pink-handled, plain-edged Jester!

In 7-14 years, she's going to love it!

Good JOB Thom! Now you need to get her a new motorcycle to go along with that Jester!

I have a Barlow knife for my grandson. It is a sentimental choice, since it was the first knife that I ever owned.

Besides, a non-locking knife is not a bad idea as a learning exercise for a child. It does instill a greater sense of care in the use of a folder.

As my friend, Uncle Atli, says, “Give your children sharp things to play with and they’ll grow up careful; or maimed; or both.” :D

:) Great choice Thom! I'm sure she will love it.

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of an Endura Trainer I just bought from a fellow forumite for use by my son and daughter; aged 6 & 9 years. They'll need to share this one for now, until I find another. Actually, I believe I will look for a Delica Trainer next, so that they can experience both sizes of knives.

The idea here is that hopefully they can get used to the in's and out's of proper Spyder-manipulation safely. Then, it's on to the real thing! ;)

Best wishes, Jeff.

Jeff/1911 -

What a cool idea - a trainer. Now I have an idea what to get one for one of my grandsons.

Chuck

Jeff/1911,

Those trainers are a great idea.

Easyrider,

I'd rather get a motorcycle for a stranger with compatible organs. :p

Today, another ClipIt arrived. This one was from Sal, Joyce, and the rest of Spyderco. They sent Cynthia an SS Dragonfly with her name engraved on the side of the blade! Thanks, guys! You already had a customer for life; now it'll be two!
