With the sharpmaker I know you have to backbevel at 30 degrees (about every tenth sharpening session according to the Sal Glesser) but I would like to know do you have to backbevel with the DMT diafold?

Thanks

Al

You don't have to do it any specific way, there are many types of edge configurations and the 15 20 method of the SM is just one of them.

How did you plan to use the diafold?

keeping a freehand angle exactly constant is hard enough as it is. doing that for two angles even more so. you will operate in a range, which becomes smaller as you improve your tevhnique with experience.
a multibevel is possible but not necessary.
freehanding is essentially multibevel in a range of angles with a lot of discrete steps of small increase : convex

Thank you for the response. I must say zyhano that I really have received good advice from you and I do appreciate that.
