Hello good people!

Here's a kind of strange looking knife for your pleasure and/or amusement :)

This knife was designed to be an exceptionally lightweight tool for your light duty excursions. It's suitable for food prep and other camp related things.

NO BATONING! 😂

The blade is AEB-L, and the handle is burlap micarta with a G10 frame and aluminum pins. This is kind of funny, but the sheaths weighs in at 3.15oz, and the knife itself is only .4oz heavier! The sheath is heavy duty, the knife is light duty.🤷‍♂️

Blade is about 4 1/8", and overall the knife is 9" long.

I like a leaf shaped blade, and a swedge really helps keep the tip nice and slim. The handle is secure and comfortable, and as always I follow the Bob Loveless principle for handle design ;) . I like the feel of this burlap micarta, and found out that the burlap's extremely abrasion resistant compared to other materials used to make the stuff. The shaping is pretty unique, and I know it looks unusual, but it's ergonomic and facilitates multiple different ways to hold the knife and maintain good control over the blade.

Although I use my grinder to rough in the secondary bevels, the final edge is applied by hand. I like the feedback I get when I do it, ( I don't have a hardness tester ) and the result is pretty good. It's time consuming, but it's one of those things that's worth the extra effort. A knife that takes me time to make should also take time to sharpen, because the edge is where it's at. That said, there are some people out there who geek out on their edges way more than me, (I'm satisfied when the edge functions as it should, for a long period of time without much maintenance) and for someone like that this knife would be a dream to putter around with. I think it could become SCARY sharp with a super high polished, more acute edge. As it stands, it's a little toothy and ground for work.

Thanks for looking, and any and all feedback is encouraged and appreciated.

Cheers!

Love everything about it. Did you have a vision and put it down on steel or come up with it on the fly? Nice outside the box thinking either way.
it was mostly the piece of steel I had which narrowed things down quite a bit. It's a piece of 3/32" thick material drop from a chef knife I made. I suppose it could have taken any shape that fit within the confines of the drop I had, but I have really been wanting to make a knife with a distinct leaf shape blade anyway. So that's where this thing came from. I also had it in mind that I wanted to design a Scout's knife- something that some parent might give to their kid for Scouting

I must say, I really like it. The handle in particular looks very well thought out.

Very sleek and stabby. I too like the handle shape. Te scalloping will make it easy to use a pinch grip while doing precise or cooking duty. As always- your designs are awesome.
sharpening this knife, and/or maintaining the edge is a pleasure- as you point out, the scallop gives a lot of control when the knife is held horizontally. I haven't tried it, but it would probably be good at dicing onions. I'll try that out tomorrow. It is definitely a pointy bastard.
Agreed the handle looks very comfortable and a usefull design. Nicely done..
Thank you all! Your kind words are appreciated :)

Looks fantastic!! Would be a great all arround user.
thanks man, and I'm glad to hear you say that because that's exactly what I was wanting to achieve with this knife

ps. I added a little bit of information to the OP, which was missing
