So, I'm looking to get a back brace. I had one a few year back and it's missing so I need to replace it.
The one I had was black nylon, had the front velcro closure, with 2 additional cinching closures, and adjustable/removable suspenders. It also had what I think were Aluminum ribs in the back for additional support. I have not been able to find the same thing since. Any ideas?

Futuro™ is a division of 3M and you can find their stuff in most chain drug stores. They make two back belts, an "Adjustable Back Support" (black) and a "Stabilizing Back Support" (white). The white one is more industrial strength ("sprains and strains") and that's what my wife uses. It has two non-removable lumbar pads, Velcro closures front and both sides, and no suspenders. Wife has lumbar spinal stenosis and she says it works OK. It comes in three sizes and it's adjustable.

Wife had a 15–20 year old nylon back brace like the one you lost. She lost hers in March and I bought her the Futuro at the nearest drug store. I found the old black nylon brace today at the bottom of her gym bag and she is wearing it now. Asked to compare them, she said the new one is a little more effective but the old one looks better with her outfit. I have to agree: the white Futuro is for under the shirt only.

I got mine from Grainger for work. The Ergodyne brand. Grainger.com part# 31XW92

This is exactly what you are describing. I used to receive palletized goods and had to down stack them, that thing has saved my back for years.

Xander, that Ergodyne is exactly what I had now that I look at it, mine had a different tag though. It was a very solid feeling brace. The day we got them, we were going t start a project at work where lifting 50lb boxes twice a week was going to be a necessity and our boss didn't want anyone getting hurt.

I looked at the various other brands and ended up getting a Flexibrace. It's not great but it will work for the time being, I'll more than likely have to get the Ergodyne again.

I look at the local pharmacy stores and I could not find the Futuro brace in black or in my size, they only had either small or XL. :(
