I started with a big paper clip and stretch cord.

I then put my hemostats in the clip. I found a stick to wrap the cord around and attach to the other side of the clip.

I took some stuff out of my kit at home. a bit of dubbing 10 or so hooks and materials for about 4 patterns of go to flies that always work.I also packed my whip finish tool, bobbin, thread and some small scissors.

Very cool! Not too many anglers dedicated enough to match the hatch right on site!

You westerners and your fly tying skills . Cool .

Do you ever tied flies with stuff you gather on the trail, like bird feathers, fibers, deer hair...?

I do sometimes. I needed some wool so I took some off my sock. I have used granola bar wrappers for the shine. I love to find bluejay feathers and turkey feathers. I use those alot. it's not often you find deer hair out in the woods.
