I took a week off and did a little hunting and spent some time in the woods. Killed two deer and a few squirrels and had a good time with my dad, also gave my grandfather's Schrade 130T a good work out, right this minute my favorite knife. I wish my son could have made it but he had school and work, that would have been 3 generations in the woods, definitely good times. Chris

Kevin,

I was hunting on a friend of mine's property who is managing for quality bucks, so actually what I was doing was culling to try to get the buck to doe ratio more in line. I shot 2 mature does, about 75 to 90lbs, I didn't weigh them, both were shot in the head with a CZ 527 in .223 from about 50 yards. I fried the liver for supper the same evening of the kill, at home not in the woods. This was not a survival training type hunt this was filling the freezer and spending time with family, I guess most on here would say harvesting not hunting.:o

I saw tons of deer and had a blast, no real big bucks but some respectable ones. I had some really good pictures but erased them by accident, I could take some of a full cooler though. :D

Cruel man. I am having beef for supper. Hobo beans compared to a nice fresh venison liver. So what does a 223 travel at? Do you have to file a low orbit flight plan? Whazamaterwida3030.

I dismantled one blind I had on a neighbors property. Some jacka$$ tore up my main blind and threw it all over the place. I have one place left. There is a small chance at the end of November.

I,m glad you had a great time. So what are the results of your buddies culling program? Do you cull unsuitable does and bucks?

223 runs about 3200 FPS with a 55 gr bullet, and there ain't nothing at all wrong with a 30/30.

The culling program is going great, I saw as many bucks as I did does which is what you want. He has only been doing it for a cuple of years so the bucks are relatively small, but in a few years look out.

Children, children calm yourselves. Regarding quantity as superior to quality is the sign of the immature mind.....

Aside from that my pet poodle can take on both your Dads....and she is pink.

The gun goes bang, the deer goes down. good enough. kind of like getting hit by a volkswagen at 75 mph or a pickup at 50 mph. still hurts.
