Wow. Just wow. Spectre and I made it back to Augusta in one piece after driving through a monsoon just outside of Atlanta. We were going 25 MPH on the Interstate the rain was so heavy. I have some pics to post later, at the moment I need to lay down and rest my back. The knives at the show were of course unbelievable, as was the company at Fogo's on Friday. Passing around a 22" khukuri in a posh, crowded restaurant is a new experience for me! One that I hope to repeat next year. Spectre and I also got to meet Jerry Busse and thank him for the donation to Uncle Bill and Rusty's auctions, which was truly great. He's just as nice in person as he is online, really a class act. There was just too much to see and do in three days to describe it all at once here, but there is more to follow, so stay tuned. :)

Glad you guys made it safely.

"The Army will release me from it's clutches in 14 days!"

What are you going to do when you get out?

RR's a great guy, the "man without guile".

It was great to ride with you, bro. See you soon.

and how was the Civic?

You check the torque settings on the head yet?

tap tap tap.....Well?

Car's good, real good actually. Head settings are fine. Now I just need an alignment and new set of tires. *sigh*

Anyway, here's the pics! Sorry there's so few, I sort of forgot I had the camera with me after I saw the knives. I tend to get a little distracted at these things.

Thanks for sharing the pix- man that was a big bowie.

Somehow a khukuri fits in with the Tasmanian-devil type feeding atmosphere at Fogos....

Ad Astra :footinmou :p

Yes, thanks for bringing back some pictures. Spectre getting together with the Man Without Guile is natural as peanut butter and jelly.

Blade was better than I had thought it was going to be, meeting the forum family was the real highlite. One thing should be pointed out and that is the HI group was the better looking of all the forum groups there

Dan had some great toys on the table much better than the pics on the web site.

I got a couple of deals on Sunday but ran out of money and so did both ATM machines so had to let a couple of others go.

Hope to see some people come to the Guild makers show in Orlando maybe we can get another meetup planned.

All in all a great bunch of people having a great time ya can't beat that.

The bowie...my god. It's Damascus, though a very light pattern. The man wanted $2500...probably worth 2x that. I noticed Mike Crenshaw (hso on THR) ended up in both pictures.

Heh. Bamboo must have scared me away with the Folly- the empty seat is mine! :footinmou

Had a great time at the show ~ meeting fellow cantinastas, looking at all those knives, attending the seminars, watching the demonstrations and the cutting competition ~ all of it was excellent.

There really is something to be said for a huge room filled with thousands of beautiful knives. :D

I found one of the best things was getting to hold all kinds of different knives and see what types of handles worked best for me. The seminars they offered were quite informative too.

The highlight was definitely meeting everyone from here. Passing the Foxy Folly's around the table at dinner was a new one for most of us, I think. Then the baby Ganga Ram, small sirupati, and that giant that Hrdwrlover had .... what was that thing?!

Fogo's was a trip, and no one complained while we drove there with a flat tire. Nor when we got lost trying to get home ....

Dan had a nice display and I think sold many pieces. He was right in with all the Mastersmiths. Had a great time hanging out with Spectre and Roadrunner all weekend.

Spectre gave me some good insight into getting my first wheelgun ~ 3" Smith and Wesson .357, K or L frame, model 66, stainless with a walnut grip ~ kind of wish I'd had it then when those Greco's started swinging ... those things were everywhere. :D

Got to talk a good deal of Eastern boxing with Azis. Watch out for that guy ... ;) :D

Shappa had small knives coming out of every pocket. Personally, I liked the forged tanto he picked up, that he was going to silk wrap himself. Very pretty little blade.

Bill Marsh showed up out of nowhere, had a nice chat, and disappeared about as quick ... Great to meet him.

Tom Kriens had a nice display and very well balanced knives for sale.

..... Hope I didn't forget anyone or anything ......

I was trying to hold out and not buy anything, but then found a beautiful bowie that just had to sit on my hip. So, there goes July's rent ....

I would have posted last night, but I got home to a house filled with smoke. Roommate was apparently cooking chick peas but forgot he was cooking chick peas. Creepy thing is the fire alarms didn't sound .... no harm done in the end though.

Great meeting everyone. Looking forward to next year. :D

~ Bamboo ~

Bill Marsh had two of the sweetest little dogs with him. They are trained to proactively detect stress and go to the person.

The little black one either liked me, or thought I was really stressed. :D

I'd fight a lion for that little dog...

<<I'd fight a lion for that little dog>>

and watching the two of them bond was very touching ,,,,well maybe a little too much touching

very cool dogs though and amazing just what they can do

Would have been nice to be there in a corner table for two, with an eyeball on everyone else looking for reactions when the edged weapons came out . . .

"Steak too tough? No problem. Stand back . . . "

Great pics, BTW. Thanks for the share.

er...those weren't dogs. Mr. Marsh had little suits made for his marsupials. Didn't you feel the velco strip?

You've been "possum-ized."

Drat. Now I've got the evil demon eyes- and I was all set to make fun of Dan. :D

Thanks for the pics.
