Got in late last night after spending Friday afternoon and Saturday at BLADE.
My first trip, and it's almost overwhelming at first. It's amazing to meet the people who make the knives we all appreciate. The list: Eddie White, Burt Foster, Kenny Rowe, Koster and Krein, Greg Lightfoot, Brian Goode, Robert Barker, the Graham Brothers, AG Russell, Bob Dozier, Ray Cover, Ed Fowler, Paul Long, Blackie Collins, and on and on. More Loveless knives in one place than anywhere else; display cases full of Randall knives; walls of rare Buck collectables, and THOUSANDS of custom knives by hundreds of makers. I saw everything from titanium chopsticks to $ 25,000 handmade Japanese swords, and everything in between. We are all part of one of the greatest hobbies in the world. I spoke to hundreds of people, handled many knives, and met exactly two rude people. No where else have I ever been around so many nice, friendly, helpful folks. I'll be back next year; See you there! Bill

Picked up some handle material for a new project I have planned, and a great little ivory handled cutter by Mr. Barker. Bill.

Terrific!! I think the best part of going to Blade is meeting the makers, and fellow forumites.

I have to agree that the people are the best part. This was my wife and I's first BLADE and even she loved it. We spent time chatting with Eric Glesser of Spyderco and many other makers. Everyone we met was friendly and the hands-on aspect of playing with knives and tools you hade before just been able to see online was great!

Glad you enjoyed yourself. I live reasonably close so it is just a matter of making the time available to attend which is hard sometimes. I only made it for Saturday this year. I'll be back next year. I wish they'd make up teashirts for each show. Maybe I should do that as I know I could sell hundreds of them over a three day period.

I added another Dozier to my accumulation. I like it as I don't have to wait a year for one of his knives and I pretty much like his standard stuff. I enjoyed visiting with Ed Wallace. I bought one of his knives a couple of years ago at a gunshow. Folks like Bob Dozier don't spend much time with regular guys like me even though I said hello. Most of the blade makers are quite nice folks.
