Back From the Blade show

Hello Darrel,

Unfortunately, by the time I made it around to your table it was bare and you weren't there... I was able to check out Dexter Ewing's Dam. Apogee, and davidb415's DA Illusion... Both were spectacular!!!!!

I am getting ready to start a custom project with another maker, and the wife says after I get this one lined out the next "big" purchase is going to be a new computer.... Just between you and me, I think it will be Dam. Illusion, then computer! Really, where are her priorities???

Seriously, those knives were georgous!!!

Darrel,

I bought a small Apogee after the show Sunday from a great guy named Kevin Pensinger. It is now my daily carry. I can’t believe how awesome of a knife I almost did not buy.

Thanks,

Speaking of Kevin....Does anyone know who bought my first knife?I want to know how they like it and how it functions.Keep in mind it was a proto and changes have already been made.I would still like to know.

Darrel and Robert,
I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed meeting you both. Darrel, your folders were awesome. Robert, I very much liked your tactical fixed blade. The handle was expertly shaped, and the grinds were excellent. Thank to both of you for letting me take a moment of your time, and to handle your fine knives.

Thanks again,

Actually, it's on the Bladeforums auctions under 'custom'. The knife is really great; I simply can't believe that it is from such a new maker, but I guess he has some good influences. However, I have oddly-sized hands, so I can't comfortably use it. I would like to find it a good home with someone who will do more than stare at it, but I may just keep it as an investment, given the potential that Mr. Bailey shows.

I picked up an awesome fighter from none other than Mr. D. Ralph. This knife is forged out of 52100 and feels great in the hand! I probably picked the thing up a dozen times before I bought it. Trouble was, I had to go sell something to pay for it. I have not used it yet, but I probably will. I just wish the kydex liner in the sheath did not scratch up the blade.

Hey Danbo
It was an honor to have the great fighter collector get that knife. That was a proto and more are on the way. Looks like they will be in the vanguard series down the road.
Use it and send it to me Ill refinish it. Kydex has good points and bad. In the future the KID (Bob Bailey) will be making the sheaths. I like that balistic cloth sheath with the pouch. What were going to do is make a new insert that fits better and try to save the blade more BUT I feel that it will still cause some scratching . Just the nature of the beast..

Lynn,
Thank you for the compliments.it means alot to me.It was a pleasure to meet you too.

JB-thanks for the info.I would be glad to design and make knife that would better fit your hands.I have made some changes to the knife as a whole(you make ,you learn).I added thmb grooves and removed the agressive ramp, added a lanyard hole.I don't think I will be bead blasting any of them in the future(unless requested). The sheaths are coming out better too.Much smaller. It was my first one...so of course they will be changes.I also had many influential and knowledgeable people critique the knife for me and have many ideas for modifying the knife in future batches.I hope you find the knife a good home.I made it to be used.Just keep in mind to tell the future owner it is a prototype.Changes have already been made and i will do so until I feel like I have gotten it just right.Thanx.

Robert

How about a heavy leather insert for this sheath? I dont plan on leaving the knife in the sheath for long periods, so corrosion is not an issue. A heavy leather insert would add rigidity, without the scratches. Or maybe a wood insert?
