Well, I made it back from Iraq. I'm still on Active status until the end of August. I now have enough good years in (20, but I'm getting paid for 27) to retire from the Reserves. I just have to wait for them to send me the confirmation letter, and then I'm retiring. Hopefully this was my last deployment. I'm getting too old to play the games and try to keep up with (or out do) the youngsters.

Do what I did, just this morning: sleep late!
Been doing lots of that. And I'm taking the whole month of July off. Get my head wired back into civilian mode. I need it. There were some guys shooting off fireworks across the street. I was looking for my body armor and helmet! The Fourth of July should prove to be interesting.

Unexpected fireworks still get me, and I've been back from Iraq since February of 2004. Of course, I'm somewhat jumpy anyway, so that could have something to do with it.:o

Believe it or not, I sympathize: not long after 9/11, a passenger jet flew low over my apartment, on the way into the Airport, and I just froze, expecting to hear something explode.
