I’m back from the Cruise, and without a bruise. Actually I got a minor sprain on a small boat but nothing that didn’t fix itself within a day. We went to St. Maarten, Puerto Rico (only for about 5 hours) and Haiti.

I won’t bore you with the Tourist pictures, here are just some of the fun ones.

OMELETS…UNLIMITED. I ate 3 that morning.

In Puerto Rico, we didn’t get to go to the Rain Forest. The traffic there can be bad, and with the limited time the cruise ship gave us, I used it to catch some of the crested Anoles down town.

I still like Puerto Rico the most though, mainly because of two forumites, Orizondo, and Dante. They went out of their way to make sure one of them saw me and got me some glorious machetes. I got to meet Orizondo near the dock and he gave me some wonderful machetes of which are quite interesting. The first one is a Tramontina cane knife, used for sugar cane and coconuts; the other two are extremely long, check out the Imacasa scimitar looking machete and the elongated red Collins! I was really happy to meat such a wonderful person there and definitely have it on my list of places to visit. Thanks so much Orizondo and Dante for introducing me to your country!

Meanwhile, in a small tract of land owned by the wallet draining Cruise company known as Royal Caribbean, I got to sort of check out Haiti. They had us enclosed in a touristy compound, but I was still able to go to the tops of the small foothills there and explore. I found this interesting safe, a tell tale of some of the crime that used to run rampant in the country.

Looks like you actually had fun, which I wasn't sure would be possible on a cruise ship. So how did you catch those little lizards???? They are bloody fast. An old prof of mine who used to study herps used to carry a squire gun with ice water in it to slow them down.

Great pics of what looks like a great cruise. I really like the shot of the machetes. I especially like what I assume is the Tramontina cane knife. How thick is it? It looks like a chopper.

Welcome home.

Great pics Joe!

Its cool you found time to meet up with some Forumites!

What did the customs aent say when he saw those huge machetes?

Tell us more about those long thin machetes. They look like just the tool for tall grass. Mac

I had an old Rasta on St. Croix show me how to make a simple loop out of the small end of the middle strand of a palm leaf and then just slip it over their heads. My kids must have caught 50 while we were there--KV
