had a great time. sadly had to drive home last night, cause i didn't want ms hollowdweller to have to do double duty on the goat milking and livestock feeding any longer than necessary. left there 9;15 got here a little before
1am.
nasty had already got a nice fire going outside in this cool kind of homemade fireplace he did up out of cinder blocks. we hung out and drank some brew incl some good local beer bri chi brought and roadrunner brought some samuel smith's oat meal stout which was great too.
one of the great things about these things is being able to start talking about some blade and have somebody pull one out
good god who knows how many knives we all had. they were everywhere. khukuris, axes, switchblades, customs, japanese swords, everything.
finally crashed about 1 and it started raining. sounded good on my tent and lulled me to sleep.
after breakfast we did the blem sale, and i thought the selection was better than last yr. I think the 15 inch ganga villager was the official khuk cause everybody had one. We also traded and sold some among ourselves.
we then proceeded to the garage and wer re handling, buffing, polishing and doing various other power tool stuff.
bri chi made a quickdraw sheath and did a tutorial on it for us. i got a bunch of pics of that and i'll try to get them to someone to post. it was real neat.
as people would get stuff really sharp they would go to the grassy area beside the drive way and try them out on the logs on chopping stands.
nasty broke out the full size ganga ram and chopped this huge log I brought.
i was worried i brought too much, but by the time I left there was a nice pile of wood, even some split, and only one or 2 full logs. got some good chopping pix too. Every one was sharing their chopping tips and trying out difft stuff. The wood this year was real dry so all the edges got a real test
we put out some big tables in the garage and we had them all full of difft blades and tom was walking us thru his extensive collection which was very cool.
nasty fired up the grill and we cooked up a bunch of chicken, burgers and dogs and chowed down.
toward the evening big bob showed up. he had a real nice older hi with the scrolled buttcap on it that was really awesome. It was real nice to meet he and satori who i had never met before. both awesome nice folks.
Satori looked really dapper in the kami hat. i think roadrunner got a picture.
after dinner and some more shop work bri chi's sheath was done and looked great.
we went to nasty's living room and thomas linton broke out his japanese swords and gave about an hour or more lecture on japanese swords. he passed them around and it was really educational and neat. I got some pix of this but couldn't really capture the temper lines, which were beautiful!
by this time it was about 9:15pm and i reluctantly bid the khukuri gods goodbye and started my journey back.
sorry for no caps but my kitty is laying in my lap on her back. she missed me. so i am holding the keyboard and typing. I normally set in an armchair and hold the keyboard in my lap.
another great khonvention with great folks!!
