Well, I attended the show on saturday and have to say that it was awesome!! This was only my second show but it was the better of the two. I started off by heading to RJ Martin's table to get my BFC name tag and wound up talking with RJ for about 20 min. What a nice man. He was extremely friendly and eager to discuss knives. I also met Andy Prisco and was equally impressed by his friendliness. The Busse knives were AWESOME! I did not want to leave the table. The day was going great and just when I thought it couldn't get any better, I ran into PhilL. We hug out for a while discussing knives and looking at all the amazing goodies that everyone had on the tables. It really was great to put a face with the name. PhilL was awesome and I am glad we had the chance to meet.
PhilL, Sorry I could not say goodbye. We left a little earlier than expected.
I also met Atilla. He was very nice as well. The forumites really are nice people.
The highlight of the show, for me, was a maker from south Africa named theuns Prinsloo. He had some of the nicest knives at the show and the BEST prices. Nicest man you will ever meet. My brother, a friend and myself all bought a knife from Mr Prinsloo. My brother and my friend only had Credit cards with them and Mr Prinsloo could not take CC, so he told them to send him a check and he let them take the knives. I was stunned! Two of the nicest knives at the show and he let them take them with just the promise of payment. Theuns has some of his folders online at www.bestknives.com in the Handmade/custom section. His fixed blades, though, are where he really shines, IMHO.
I was lookin forward to meeting Edward Schott, but I could not find him.
To wrap this up; the show was great, I only wish I was able to meet more BFC members. So who is going to the East Coast Custom Knife Show in march?
