Overall, the St. Louis Regional Gun & Knife show was good, but as I perused the aisles of Spyderco and Benchmade and all the gang, I began to notice someone missing. Ken Onion/Kershaw Assisted Opening knives were nowhere to be found. When I inquired of a knife dealer, he told me in a very aggravated tone that due to the ongoing legal questions in Il. stemming from the arrest talked about elsewhere on this forum, that the promoters of the show told everyone that they could not sell these knives this weekend. The dealer was ticked off, as he said he had about 1/3 of the inventory he brought sitting in a box under the table.

Booo to Egyptian Collector's Assoc. if this is true!

on a second note, ran up to Troy to Grand Praire Knives, if you haven't been there, make a trip!!!!!

On of the best knife stores I have ever been to!

Can brother The Last Confederate get an amen from the congregation?

Y'all are preachin' to the choir, my friend.

You need to take this message to the folks who run that show. Tell 'em you won't be comin' back to their sissy as_ show because of this.

Amen! Thou shalt not knuckle under and give up thy rights!

Can the Brother post contact information for the show promoters so fellow Brothers may express their displeasure?

I verified that it is a E.C.A. show, I am trying to contact them, but they are at the show, and not in their shop. I will talk to them directly Monday morning and see what's up.

Hey Last Confederate! How about some more info on Grand prairie knives? Like location contact numbers etc. thanks John Crites:)

This store was awesome!

Take 55/70 to the Troy exit, #18 on the east side of 55/70 there is a large Amoco station on a frontage road. Take that frontage road north parallel to 55/70 about 300 yards, they are the last thing on it, from the outside it looks like a very small store, but it had a fantastic selection of knives.

Custom Sebenzas laser etched just for them.
Al-Mar...the works. (it took everything I had not to leave with the SERE 2000 for only 122.00.

They also have a new website up taking internet orders.

www.gpknives.com

For the record I have no financial interest in this place, I just want to give "props" to a great store. I was like a kid in a candy store getting to handle knives I normally only see in magazines, (where I live it's Wal-Mart or sporting goods stores that only carry Buck/Gerber/Schrade under 50.00) Grand Praire Knives was like Mecca to me!

The staff was totally cool and really take time to help their customers.

Their prices were about what you find online really reasonable.

I bought a Benchmade 556 in bright blue for 55.00.

Grand Prairie is a great place! I've had nothing but good experiences buying, selling and trading with them.

They've been selling over the internet for quite awhile, but when I recently visited their website (ironically, I was thinking about ordering a Chive so I'd have one to take to the Sangamon County state's attorney's office) I found the new website. It's about ten times better-looking and easier to use than the old one was.

And if you can find I55, you can find GP. I'm almost two hours away, but when I want to walk into a shop and handle knives, that's where I go.

What a crock of sh#t!! Walmart is still selling Ken Onion Chive and Scallions in thier Bloomington/Normal stores. I've bought three of each from WalMart just to piss the control freaks of Illinois off. Screw Illinois!! I'll carry what I want! I'm sick and tired of Illinois's obcure and vague weapon laws! I Can't believe the Egyptian Collecters Assoc. are being such pu333y's!. They are the main show that comes to Bloomington/Normal twice a year. I've always thought thier dealers were pretty lame.

Gwinnydapooh, What gun boards are you visiting now? I haven't seen your handle since The firing Line was shut down.

I spoke to the person from E.C.A. today, he says they only "informed" the dealers about the arrest of a person with a Ken Onion, and that they wanted the dealers to be aware of that, that they didn't "Necessarily " tell them they couldn't sell them.

I am not sure what to make of the conversation, if it was simply a warning, you would have thought some dealers at least would have sold them anyway...I never saw a single Ken Onion knife in the entire show on any table..his use of the phrase "we didn't necessarily tell them they couldn't"....has that weazel quality about it.
