Hello all,
I recently sent a few knives to Buck for their spa treatment, including one for a reblade and all I can say is I'm more than impressed with the results after getting them back. I contacted Joe Houser with some questions before sending them. He was very friendly in his communication and he responded all my questions promptly. The man is exactly as advertised in this forum and a real pleasure to deal with.
I sent them a couple of weeks ago and got them back this Saturday. This was a much better turn time than I expected, considering I sent seven knives.
I was inspired by Nutoknives' post of his returning beauties and thought I would also share the results with you all.
Here is the package as it arrived.
Needed a knife to open it and my latest Buck purchase was up to the task.
I'm really happy with this Slimline.
Here they are out of the box.
and out of their protective packaging:
and now some individual pics:
My trusty old "Workman". I bought this knife when I first started working in aviation maintenance and it spent a lot of years in my toolbox.
This is a 110 that I sent in with about a quarter inch broken from the tip. It was rebladed at the spa.
This other 110 had only the tip of the blade broken off and the bolsters were beat all to hell. The blade was retipped and the entire knife restored. Impressive!
This one is a "slim" 110 with the small nail nick. It was in pretty bad shape, but now it looks much better. I thought they would have to replace the blade, but I'm glad they were able to save the original one.
This is a 111 I bought on the bay recently and had some of the aluminum rolled around the edge of one of the slabs. That problem has been corrected and sharpening scratches were removed from the blade.
This 503 was given the spa treatment and the blade was reground to correct a broken tip. I wasn't sure if it could be done, but here it is!
This 112 had some sharpening scratches on the blade and some heavy dings at the end of the bolsters. All better now
A group shot of the returning 7 with their "rescuer"
And a reference pic for those wondering about the scale of the "Slimline" when compared to the 110 and 114.
I hope you all enjoyed seeing these as much as I do owning them.
Joe and the crew at Buck sure know their business. Yet another reason to love and support this company.
Thanks,
cuad
