Hey all. Thought Id share my recent spa experience. Its a bit of a mixed review, so let me start by saying that overall I am very happy with the returns from Buck. I sent in an old and broken 110 for a new blade and spa treatment. I sent in a broken 442 with hopes they would install a 50th anny 112 blade on it. I also sent in my daily user 722 Spitfire in for a factory sharpening.
The 110 came back beautiful. I wish I had some better before pictures. It was pretty nasty looking.

They re bladed the 442 with a 112 blade. Really cool of them. Not a 50th anny stamp, but an pretty unique knife none the less.

My Spitfire is my daily user work knife. I depend on it. I figured I'd send it in for a factory sharpening since I was already sending in these knives. On the repair form, I asked them to replace the nylon blade bushing that I lost.
Well, getting this knife back was a bit of a disappointment. This is how it was sent to Buck

When it returned, the knife was dirty. The handles were dirty and there were still very definitive marks on the blade, where I had last used it to sharpen a pencil. after a couple of days, I wondered how they could have taken this knife apart and not cleaned it in any way before working on it. I began to suspect that they didnt take it apart at all. So I wondered how they would have replaced the bushing without removing the blade. I took the knife apart to find that the knife in fact had not been cleaned at all (spa treatment?) and they did not replace the bushing. The cherry on top was the fact that the blade wasn't sharpened. It had been put to a grinder, but I don't think anyone looked at it afterward.

so... Bummer. Knives were gone for 12 weeks and 2 days. I did ass u me that being a custom knife, repairs would be done by the custom shop, no? Not sending this back to be corrected. I will take it to the guy in town who sharpens Mount Saint Charles' hockey skates instead. He'll do it while I wait and charge $5.
I was very happy with the rebladed knives and am very happy that is an option. A lot of companies would tell you to buy a new knife. Anyway, I always see people asking about the spa service on here, so this was my experience. -Ben
