Im back home and Im sure glad of it. Had an aunt die unexpectedly, worst flights of my life, relative tenstions ran high and I stayed too long!
I was however able to visit that big shop in east Tennessee. I donated to the knife museum and got a great big ol book on how to spot counterfeit knives. Interesting that there are some things in the book that I hope are not correct, like when you see the pivot pin in the bolster on an old knife that looks correct...If the blade is tight and looks right to the knife I like to think that its a knife thats been tightened up via the ol vice trick and wasnt polished out well enough..but I digress.
The big shop in question had all these knife stamps that were used in catalogs to show "pictures" of the knives. They appear to all be old IXL and here are the three I got. Cant wait to get an ink roller and play around with them!
I also picked up a couple of knives. I forgot to bring the 7 Dot Case Muskrat to work today but I will tomorrow. Apaloosa bone, pristine and I got it from a great little shop in Kingston Tennessee, run by a fellow named Max. Great guy and also sells hand made rockers! (Got one for dear ol mom!)
The big shop near Sevierville had great prices on old Black Box Winchesters so I couldnt resist another med pattern congress in yellow bone. I also had my Radio knife waiting for me at my office. I have to say that this is the best bone GEC has ever done. I absolutely love it! They just keep getting better and better!
I thoroughly enjoyed the knife museum again and drooled over all the old traditionals that I will never have, but oh well, at least they are being preserved!
Was not my best visit to the state of my birth, lots of sadness but I allways love being in the south in the thick of all things traditional.
Happy New Year all!
