Back in Black (or how I made the Skyline I wanted)

I wanted a black skyline with a black DLC blade. I stopped holding my breath waiting for Kershaw to make one and picked up another 1760BRNCKT from the sale forum.

Starting with two good looking knives. What could go wrong?

I like the black clip too. An added bonus was changing out the screws that were polished with wear.

I think both knives look better now. One thing to note: the flipping action isn't quite as smooth now. I think it's because of the DLC coating on the pivot portion of the blade, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility that I screwed it up somehow. It's my EDC, so we'll she how it breaks in.

Mineral oil in the pivots for smoothness. They look good!

One thing I noticed with my skyline was that with tip down carry there is a chance the pocket clip screws will put extra pressure on the washer. If they are sticking through too far screw them into the linner without the clip or scale and take the ends to a course stone for a few passes just don't take off too much. I agree they do look very nice I hope we see more variations of the Skyline in the future since it has become my favorite folder.

Happy to report that it now flips like a champ! It just needed some break in time. I love the buttery smooth flipping action on my skylines!

Totally agree with that! More variants of the Skyline would be a wonderful thing (except for my budget, of course!).

I went ahead and copied your concept; now I have a 1760CKT and a 1760 BRN (just like you did) in my collection. They are great a great addition, in combination with my 1760 (blem from Kershawguy), 1760RDSO (again from Kerhawguy), 1760OR, and 1760BRCKT (I do have a 1760DAM on pre-order, hope I get it!). Thanks for the suggestion! If the 1760BRCKT were more plentiful, I would also build Frankenstein 1760ORCKT and 1760RDCKT's as well! I think that they would both be totally sick!

I picked up the black blade/ brown G10 off of the EE. Now I just have to get the black G10 from Knife Works. My only problem is I put too many other knives in the cart too.
