This is a story of love and love lost and found again.

It begins as so many stories do, with a man and a knife, and love at first sight. I knew I had to have a Leek, but which one? No ordinary Leek would do, I must have something exotic. And so it was that I came to posess a Polished scale G10 Leek in S30V.

S30V the wonder steel would make this a love affair to end all love affairs, but sadly it would introduce much heartache and misery. As is the case in most relationships, the very things that once attracted me so much came to be a source of constant irritation. For while the S30V blade was durable in edge holding and ability, it was a constant nagging pain to sharpen. It scoffed at stones and like the stubborn mistress it revealed itself to be refused to raise a burr. And so attempts to sharpen where met with only partial success, and the relationship began to strain. The man it seemed could not make the blade happy and the blade while functional was merely a shadow of it's former beauty.

And so the man's eye began to wander, maybe this relationship had run it's course, maybe it was time to end it and look at one of the new beautys in ZDP, D2, or other beautiful form. Or maybe this relationship could be saved, maybe it just required additional work and the need to throw caution to the wind and take a chance. Could this problem be fixed with patience and diamonds? And so with the proper application of diamonds a new shape was revealed, the blade lost her chiseled look, and took on a more rounded convex shape. A face lift from wet/dry paper smoothed her lines and revealed her hidden edge until her true keen edge was brought forth.

And so this story has a happy ending, man and blade, once again a happy union.

Dude, racerx.....I'm really happy that you got a nice edge put back on your S30V Leek, but....I'm a bit concerned with your seemingly deep, all consuming, and OPEN relationship with your blade:eek:

Don't get me wrong. All of us here sleep with some kind of Kershaw tucked into our pajamas or nestled by our cheek in our pillow, but we don't come onto the forums and tell the whole world about it!!:o If I didn't know better, I'd say you've been testing your Leeks sharpness by cutting the pages of a Harlequin romance novel. Down, boy!!:D;)

Seriously, though, I'm glad you've made some great progress with the Leek:thumbup:

Haha...Yeah I guess it could come off a bit strange, just didn't feel like making a "I reprofiled my Leek and now it's wicked sharp!" post...

I had the same problem with mine, but we worked it out and now everything is great. She hasn't given me any more problems since I took the diamond stone to her and gave her a convex grind. Some sandpaper and a hone made her pretty as the day we met.

I'm so happy for you and your Leek.

Woah, anthropomorphism taken to a new level! Great story though.
