After many years of being spydieless, I am back in the fold. Recently got a PM2 with compression lock and it is fabulous.

I am considering an Endura but have a question. Does the lockback on the endura impart resistance on the blade when opening? Or will it be as free and smooth as the PM2?

An Endura will never be as smooth as a Para 2. The lock does exert pressure on the tang. I will say, some of my Enduras have gotten very smooth over time. Different locks, different actions.

The Endura lockbar will put pressure directly on the round back tang of the blade, when the PM2 lockbar detent ball will put pressure on the side of the blade. I have also had very smooth Enduras as well, Spydie flickable even.

I’m in a similar, I’ve been buying a mess of Spyderco’s recently. My endura offers slight blade resistance and is pretty smooth.

If I recall correctly, I had difficulty flicking my old endura open. Thats a deal breaker.

In my experience, the flickability varies from model to model; from backlock to backlock.

Delica 4 FRN - flickable
Delica 4 HAP40 - inconsistently flickable

Police 4 - flickable
Caly 3 - flickable

Native 5 FRN and G10 - non-flickable; may have more to do with size?

Dragonfly - easy flickable with middlefinger, bad with thumb

Salt 2 - flickable with thumb and wrist action, bad with middlefinger
Funny is that its middlefinger flickable with my weak left hand

Mine has loosened up over time. Was stiff compared to my military or manix but still a smooth opener. Now I can flick it open.

My Endura 4 and Pacific Salt can’t be easily flicked open without me worrying that the pivot screw will fall out. If a pivot screw can be adjusted with a finger, it’s too loose for me and I live with a tighter blade and hope it loosens over time.

The Native 5 is tight, but too small likely to flip open easily.

My BD1 Manix LW flips open the easiest followed by my GB2 and Para 3.

Maybe there are minute variations found in the same model?

P.s. All of the above are less than 4-5 months old and purchased new.

The endura will be more difficult to flick and will not fall as freely as the PM2. But it is still a great knife and at almost half the cost. If you want a little bit bigger blade than the PM2 in a very lightweight package I would go ahead and buy it. You will figure out how to flick it open consistently.

Thanks to all. Think I will go with a Delica as the PM2 is a large knife and the smaller Delica should compliment it well.
