Well a short tale first, a friend on the forums, a Gold member here, asked
my help to sell his Sebenza for him, he sent it out, I took some photos
and posted her up. Probably the next day or two I took the knife out to
look her over again and noticed just a cosmetic problem with the blade,
there was a ripple on one side, so I pulled the sale, sent the knife to CRK
for a looksee, they said they felt the blade had been twisted and might
have caused that, but took care of it and sent the knife back to me.
Pulling forward, yesterday the knife arrived, got her out, she was so very
nice, blade looked perfect and zipadidoda sharp too! I was quite taken with
her and hung my head, emailed my friend and said I was sorry, but couldn't
post this back up as I now wanted to keep her and he just laughed....
and laughed. Well long story just a bit longer, I 'thought' I had found THE
knife with the Spyderco Stretch, lovely knife, of course apples and oranges
we are talking here, but there are some similarities that I found and will
show in the following images, since the Sebenza has now usurped that knife
it's only fair to present the findings.

First a shot of the rascally Large Classic Sebenza with Desert Ironwood inlay

in this closeup you can see how finely ground the blade is on this one, she really
push cuts easily through material, also note how CRK makes the slope up to
the edge, this way material isn't hung up on any sharp transitions

Between the Stretch, which I have modified btw by removing the hump in case
any of you were wondering, the blade profile of the edge to the Sebenza is almost
identical, shown here;

The difference being when the spines are lined up, the Stretch does tilt the blade
down to a lower position;

Both knives have a nice secure guard area, love that bit;

of course the Sebenza is a bit thicker than the Carbon fiber Stretch, but then
the Stretch's finer point is that it has less of an imprint in the pocket for easier carry;

and while the blades start out about the same thickness, the Stretch does have
a bit of a taper out to the tip

So that's the Good news for the day, I'm officially back into the Sebenza fold ;)
My family just rolls their eyes at me, but, I am getting use to that!

Lovely large Ironwood. I have a small Ironwood 21 that is also a gorgeous knife. I don't carry her much because a lot of my EDC stuff is kinda rough (warehouse and yard work) and I carry my micarta 21 for that, but the Ironwood models are beautiful.

Gary, you rascal. That's the knife you were talking about, isn't it?

Very, very nice. I'd keep it too ;)

Thanks guys and Gal :) good to be back too, just something about a Sebbie
that's often hard to put into words.

While I would still love a modifed wharncliffish blade and IF they ever produce one
I'll be TRYING to be first in line for sure! I will TRY to keep this one, I'm getting
older, every day it seems and have purposed that I need to get down to carrying
just a couple of knives and I have high hopes for this one.

I THOUGHT?? the Stretch would fill that void and she did an admirable job too but
I find that I don't have the funds to keep a collection any more, so one moves in order
to make room for the next, it's what I call that big Circle of Knife thing we all share ;)

Again, thanks for the well wishes and I do need somebody to pick up that Stretch...lol, check the forsale section when you can :)

Beautiful knife Gary, Nice choice....................

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: Rickster :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Good question, had one or rather, several, that were very special
but at the time, needed something else, camera, lens, home theather
tires, furniture, babies, stuff like that that life throws at you kinda
quick and sometimes without warning, so, the Best of the collection
is picked as that will net the Most funds coming in and that'll leave
me Sebenzaless.

But a little older and yet not a lot smarter :cool:, I'm hoping that this time
I'll just hang in there as of all the ones I've had before, this has probably
the best edge yet and I've seen a lot of these through the years,
either in my collection or passing through to get a new home made.

I am glad you are happy with what you have! That looks like it has an incredible edge:)

I am sure it was terrible giving up your collection:grumpy:

You're right, it wasn't fun and the one that hurt the most
was the Mammoth Ivory one, just something about having
a knife with a hunk of something ancient like that :(

But she's in a new home and quite happy I'm sure!

I know what you mean. I have some on a pistol. It really is beautiful material and knowing the age, like you said, really adds to the beauty. I have wanted a mammoth ivory sebenza since I found out about sebenzas! I will get one. I just ordered a Large 21 Micarta to hold me over. I wonder if CRK will install Ivory if you send it to them? I have my eye on some that was said to be from the Siberian Permafrost.

Thanks, I thought the Sebenza was a moderately thick handled knife, until the Glimpse
came in for a visit this week, wow now that is a THICK handled knife!

You should see a Gents Glimpse!! They are fantastic. I LOVE mine. I never thought the Sebenza was thick handled.
