Back of blades question

While admiring the 532 that Flatlander gave to Plumerdave, I noted that the back of the blade had some nice file work. The thought occured to me that a nice fixed blade knife (won't work for folder) would have a blade that was sharp on both sides. It would be ideal for dressing out and rough quartering a deer or other large animal. The botom one would have a good curved belly, and be razor sharp to get through meat. The top of the blade would be straight and serrated and also razor sharp. It could work like a saw to get thru a pelvic or breast bone. Granted, you would have to be real careful when using it as you could accidently cut yourself, but of course care is always warrented. So the question: Whats wrong with the idea; how come I don't see something like this offered?

I'm not sure where I read this, but I believe that such knives are actually illegal in many if not most places. I have quite a few "stilleto" style knives that appear to be designed to be sharpened on both edges but aren't.

howdy you old goat!
i c youj found your way from the locker..

humm as dave said there alot of questions concerning
two edges on things
most states have some kind of a law prohibiting them
i have a dubble edge 110 .. the back side is not quite as sharp
to leave it as a question of what is sharp
but on a fixed blade two edges is deff a no no ..
some mil weapons had them ... fairbanks designed some
including the smashit which buck made some of..
but mostly a saw blade on the back would be the most i would want
if only because i cut my self so offten..
ya know ya cant see in side were ya gots yo hand in the deer..
so it could be a by feel thing !
i shall reserve further comment until the real deer hunters come on line..
ahy tin sue what u think?
