Hiya all, this post is really just to let you know that my dog is now back to full strength after her close shave the other week !
As I walked her today though it got me thinking and just incase any of you are thinking of getting a Bully breed of dog or even if you are just curious what they are like I thought I'd explain a little....

I got my mate in the UK to register on here and he read about what had happened to my dog and e-mailed me. He said he was sorry to hear what had happened, it turns out he too has a Bull terrier, he then said yeah you have to watch them cos they are stupid. If you are reading this Rob I have to disagree a little here, Bullys are stubborn, self willed and compulsive but not stupid. In fact my dog is actually the most intelligent dog I have known. She knows all the usual commands Sit, Fetch, Give paw etc but she will also fetch my slippers and one that impresses people most is she will do a toilet on command when I tell her and where I tell her !!!
I would rate them on the same level as a Labrador ! Ok then you might ask then why don't they use them as guide dogs.....they don't because a Bully would chew up the white stick and then drag the person down the street at 100mph. You see Bullys only have 2 gears, gear 1 is when they are tired or ill and all the rest of the time they are in gear 5 !!!
If a Bully had a broken leg and you threw a ball the Bully would ignore the leg and tear after off after the ball !!!
If a normal dog is locked in a house and missing the owner it might chew a little on a doorframe etc...a bully will not be happy until it has ripped the door from the frame and eaten it !!!
To me Bullys are the best dogs in the world but you must be ready for what they are like. I think of them as an 8 year old kid who has overdosed on sugar and E numbers !!!They always know what they should do but they often choose not to do it !

Anyways enough ramblings, here are some pics of my recovered Mutt....

I said I'd try and keep her away from water for a while....no chance !!!

Wherever we go she always finds a tennis ball...

Even Bullys tire after a while...

Do you remember the Quails nest I found ? Well I went back and checked on it today and you will be pleased to see she is still being the good mother bird and keeping them warm....

Yep. Great pics as always! It's shame I'm so stubborn as to connect to the internet at 28,800, so I usually have to stop pic-heavy posts sometime before bedtime :D (And don;t get me started about guys who quote a pic-heavy post and leave the pictures in to reload AGAIN!) hehehe

PitManDog: I know you didn;t discipline her with a Snody or a Scrapyard, so I guess I missed the post explaining what ailed her. What happened to the mutt?

Just for you bro this is what happened.....

I had taken her down to the sea as we always do and she went in to fetch a stick ( more like a tree if I'm honest ). when she swam back she came back with it on end. Anyway all seemed good and I started to walk away so she would follow, but she didn't. She just stood at the waters edge panting with water coming out of her mouth ! I went back down to her and noticed that her stomach was literally hanging totally full of salt water and she had gone into shock.
I raised her rear end and water was pumping out of her mouth, I did this until no more came out and then carried her to the nearest vets.
They took x-rays and her stomach was then clear but the water had filled her lungs so that her breathing had become laboured. She was put on tablets for shock, Diuretics and Antibiotics and I had to leave her there for about 4 hrs.

Glad your dog is alright, I've been a long time fan of the bully breed and bred pits for 5 years, but I stopped breeding them recently because it's too hard to find a good responsible buyer for the pups. Most people want to buy them for other uses than just a good and loyal pet and I am sickened by that fact.
If there were more owners like you and I around I think the breed would have a completely different reputation!!

Thats so true, its the owner that makes a dog good or bad......and you cant tell me otherwise
Of course i have a Golden, =P so i dont have to be on the ball

Pit, im very pleased shes back in action, id know how i felt if anything happend to my four legged friend, Oh and i hear ya about chucking the tree instead of a stick. As stated above I have a golden, so i know alllllllll about the water fetch...Hehe

Man, I bet that was scary. No, I know it was. Sorry I missed the original post and glad to hear (and see) she's back to normal. She sure is a good looking dog... I bet she has no fear if a large animal got too close to you while out hiking.

Even though we need them, a vets like a human doctor.........'SPENSIVE! I ran over a little Chihuahua we used to have with a VW one day, right over her midsection, squeezed the poop out of her, scared the SH$T outta me, and had to leave her at the vet for four days. In the end, he said she was ok and he just wanted to keep her for observation. $400. That was in 1986 (not that 400 is anything to scoff at right now!!!!) My wife said : "$400!!! She aint even worth 400 dollars!! Take her back!"

All's well that ends well (((:D)))

I hear ya there bro, I was glad she was insured. They sure cost money, we only paid $200 for her in the UK but she cost us $3000 to fly her out to Canada with us !!!

Pitdog,

It seems a few of us missed the bad news, but I'm glad I got here to hear the good news she's okay.

And back to protecting you from the Bigfoots! You have to admit that since she's been on the job, you've never been attacked by them!

Best wishes to you and your tennis-ball-herding best pal.

Great looking hike, like always. I'm liking those quail shots you got there:thumbup:

Ha!
You must have missed the other post where they heard one in a thicket and when Pitdog tried to send her in to flush Bigfoot out, she got behind him! Can you believe it! Next time they encounter one we might hear that she got behind him again but this time she nudges him to the sound!
