One day back in New Jersey and JV3 wanted to do a recon hike for future multi-day trips. With the fall colors upon us, how could I resist? I recently returned from a trip up the coast to Newport, (Rhode Island), Bar Harbor, (Maine), and Nova Scotia (Canada) to capture the fall foliage. This would be my very first time on the East Coast during autumn. On our hike I got to experience the start of autumn in New York with JV3.

JV3 doing some recon…

Trail sipping along the way…

Quick Lunch Fire-using the crotch of a wet, damp, rotten birch.

A great ending to a great day out.

great to see you again, rb! here are my pics: home...sweet...home. the pic doesn't show it but there's enough room for two and still plenty of coverage from rain.

the red really looks like that in person - it's so bright it looks like the bushes are on fire!

what the pic doesn't show is how cold it was up there. we had to keep moving otherwise our winter jackets were on...going to be another cold winter this year for sure.
