I'm not sure why I ever went away but I went to high end folders for decades. I found a few weeks back that I had an expensive folder clipped to my pocket and was afraid to use it. First instinct would be to pull the knife but I'd stand there looking at it and then say no and pull out my SAK. I solved my problem with a great little 112 Slim folder at the local hardware store for $32 (Likely Overpaid) with tax and everything. Carried it all week and have been thrilled! Like a little kid just looking for something to use my new knife on.

Welcome back! You have a couple of great 112 users there. Bucks 420hc is a great value and you can get decades of use out of them. That’s the reason I like my Buck knives I’m not afraid to use them and if they do ever break, Bucks forever warranty will take care of it.

Funny thing is I’ve been using 110’s hard for years. I’ve had people tell me I shouldn’t abuse such a nice knife! 😂.

To them a Buck is high end. To me Buck has always been in the sweet spot. High quality, but inexpensive enough not to really worry about….. (until they gain sentimental value). Lol.

I got my first 110 fifty years ago & I might have paid about $15-17 for it. That was really alot of money for me to spend on a knife back then. I still have it, and it's seen some stuff over the years.:)

Yep, that’s me …. sort of. I haven’t been collecting nearly as long as the OP, but I do have a bunch of more expensive knives, including Sprint Pro’s, CRK’s and others. I try rotating other knives when I do carry, but I always find myself coming back to my Sprint Select. Action is great, ergos are great, size and weight are just right to carry, and the 420HC steel is perfectly adequate for anything I’ll do with it. Probably most importantly, it’s easily replaceable if anything happens to it.

ChiefTJS ChiefTJS Welcome back to Buck! When I was getting interested in modern knives (single blades with pocket clips and thumb-studs) I turned to Buck Knife Co and bought the same knife you did (same color too) - then it was called the 112 Slim Select. Great knife, gave it to a hunting partner and bought a 112 Slim Pro - both great knives. OH

I have bucks for work and bucks for the weekend. Bucks for camping and bucks for travelling. Some bucks I look at and some bucks I haven't seen since the day they came in the mail... I've even started buying bucks for other people. Still have less than 100 though ( I think). 112 is one of the best you can use or collect.

IMG_0640.jpegIMG_0639.jpegMy buck 112 slim in green FRN is a good user and I slip it into my pocket ( or I should say on the pocket with the clip ) on weekends. I use it more than my 112 Slim Pro in micarta, that has been discontinued now so I hold it back. Did manage to get a 112 drop point here on the exchange, with upgraded steel that will need some user time.

I also have a 117 in 5160 that I wanted since the 102 was smaller and the 119 was a little too big, Buck had the right size and I think 5160 was good choice for a tough steel thst should be easier to sharpen. So I guess I came back to Buck knives that will work and didn’t cost an arm and a leg to purchase. The value you get vs. the cost is what brings me back to Buck. Now just need a Buck hat so I can join the curmudgeon club. 😀IMG_0568.jpegIMG_0553.jpegIMG_0552.jpeg

See that’s the thing with my 112. I had worked there almost 20 years ago for a few months making 112s while I was waiting for another job. I bought some 112s that because of the markings on the handle I knew I made.
They were at the factory store that’s how I was able to come across them. They have a store there you can go to and buy knives and what not.

I love Bucks 420HC
And the 112 has great utility value
I have the 110 slim select, if I could redo it I'd rather have two 112s, I like the more compact size
I've had a 110 for years, but only got my first 112 last year. Now I have three 112s. There's certainly nothing wrong with the 110, but I just like the smaller size of the 112 for edc.

Similar experience here Benny. Got some I'll use for just about anything, though I never abuse the knives, if needed, I'll get a different tool instead of using, say, a 112 to pry with. Some of mine I haven't seen in years. I just hit 101 with yesterday's purchase, in the triple digits on these great Bucks. Occasionally disappointed with new ones -usually related to the walk and talk- but rarely get a bad one.
