I finally got the word today that I can go back to work. I have been on hold for the last three and a half months going through non stop doctor's visits because of some heart problems that had me scheduled for bypass surgery. Well to make a long story short, surgery has been canceled because the risks outweighed the benefits and I have been placed on medications to control the situation. Better that than surgery.

Now I can get back to work on knives instead of just finishing blades from stock.

Thanks to everyone who supported Carol and I throughout the ordeal.

Hey, George me too. I am going back to work after a 2 year vacation. Boy, is this going to suck. It will be the first time in over 25 years that I do not have to wear a tie to work.:( :( :(

Good luck, George. Speaking from experience, those meds can do wonders for ya. Just know when too much work is too much and pay heed to yer body's signals and you'll be ok. Life has to change a bit, and there are things you simply won't be able to do anymore, but the accomodations to comply are a lot better than the alternative. I hate laying in a hospital bed with that damnable crash cart sitting right next to the bed, and a nurse stationed in my room. :D

Hang in there. Life is still grand......

Take care of yourself George. Take them meds on time and listen to soothing music while grinding. Glad you are better.

And if the doctor says 'cut back on salt', he REALLY means it.
We all probably eat too much salt anyway, but the older we get, the less we need.
Causes all sorts of bad stuff, generally speaking.

Glad to hear you are feeling better and back to it, George! When you think about it,working in the shop is pretty soothing therapy, especially if you can leave nagging distractions in the house (mother in laws, etc.). You will notice I didn't mention weomen in general. Just an over the shoulder caution, eh? While you are recovering, you are allowed a foxy shop elf, though. Get well, George! We are in this together, guy! IG in a tie? I gotta see that!

This is my first week back at work after a 3 1/2 month layoff and I am finding it a little tiring but by the end of the week I expect to have all of the Christmas orders complete. Now I will be able to get down to some new projects that have been rattling around my head during my enforced vacation.
