As many probably know DHL recently merged with Airborn Express. As usual, a website revision was instigated.

Yesterday DHL shipping website was unavailable. This AM when I hit my bookmark to get logged in I couldn't get logged in. I called 4 different numbers, including the one on the website which said "if you can't get logged in call this number" and got the run around. I stumbled around the web and finally got logged on. Much to my amazement the address DHL had for me was the old Moana Lane address which hasn't been used for 4 or 5 years and they spelled Himalayan "Himalalin". And my address book which I had complied was gone.

These infernal website upgrades that only create problems for users make me too crazy so I'm going back to the USPS. To hell with it.

And, as soon as I can get the links on the website changed from Andale to Yahoo I'll kiss Andale goodbye, too. Their customer support is pitiful. Because of lack of it they cost me maybe 4 or 5 thousand dollars worth of sales during the Christmas season and as recompense they offered a 20% discount on my cost for January = about $35 dollars.

Rant complete.

The more things change, the more they remain the same.

My sympathies.

Do what you have to Uncle. Your customer support is the best. Too bad the others can't take a hint.

Sounds OK to me Uncle Bill.
Maybe if some of these companies that try to be such a glossy steamlined high-tech machine would just took a look at what good ol' fashioned "handshake" business can do, then they'd learn the error of their ways. I know technology has it's place, but dealing with it's problems can be a real headache. Anyway, USPS is fine by me, and i MUCH prefer Pen's yahoo site over the old one anyday. You lead and we'll follow:D

That really stinks Uncle, in both cases...:(
We can understand your grief, especially since your service rates an 11 on a 1-10 scale.
It seems like the world is running out of competant service providers more and more each day.

Thats the pits, but I know how you can make up that lost money. Have about 100 or so M43 blems come up and I think you can recoup some of it.:D :D :D :D

We support ya Uncle Bill. Hang in there!!!

So does this mean that my brown triangular box is going to become a collector's item? :)

Wish the other had worked out better for you UB, to save driving and waiting, but it sounds like their anuses are in dire need of cranium extraction.

Bye-bye Andale...

Uncle - I changed all the links last Saturday. ;)

Please explain to DHL in writing why. This is good for bad adminisrations to know. Of course- they'll blame it on the guy in the stockroom. He's an evil Son responsible for most of the world's ills.

You've hit a real nerve with this one. No sooner than I put up with all the hogwash, providing data that comes back to haunt me with advertisements, but then whatever it is, MSN, Yahoo, the upgrade arrives and they torment and delay web use until I allow it to be installed. There is no improvement, and in the case of Yahoo, even a deterioration with the new service.

Could I get a volunteer to help me out? I need someone with a faster connection to go through every link on the website and tell me which links on which pages need to be updated.

put the Kids are down for a nap...
Dan, gotcha covered for page 1....

Email sent for page 1---> now going thru page 2

Make it easier on yourself
& just mail out products every other day or so.

Or approximately that, as convenient.

Sorry to hear of your problems Uncle, I was hoping DHL would work out. With DHL I could send to the office and be more low-profile about it... my wife was not amused when the first piece of mail delivered to our new house was a HI khuk   :D

The one truism in life that I have found and count on daily is that there is no limit to the number of incompetent persons and organizations out there. I mean it. They are everywhere. My background is in Software QA and I get paid to find defects, design flaws, functional errors. My wife tells me I am too critical because I notice EVERYTHING. If someone tells me they are detail-oriented then by God they had better be. I warn all the contractors I have hired who tell me they are super detail-oriented: "I pay attention." Most of them have no clue what the term "Detail-orinted" means. One guy got pissed at me because he laid 50 red bricks down the right side of the driveway and 45 on the left. When I pointed this out he said, "No one will notice!" "Well, I noticed", I replied. "Tear it out and do it right." He said it was OK and he wasn't going to redo perfectly good work, so I fired his butt and redid it myself.

When was the last time you ordered something at a fast food place and they got it right? Or something you ordered over the phone was delivered as promised? I walked into my bank a few weeks ago to cash a $20 check at lunch as the ATM was down, and the girl counts out $200 for me! Talk about temptation, but I know from long-ago experience that the karmic payback would be a bi^&h if I took it, so I politely pointed out the error. Her response? "You're LUCKY you told the truth, otherwise we would be looking for you!" Well, you're welcome idiot! Geez...

No one takes any pride in their work anymore, which is one of the reasons the HI stuff is so enticing. I guess every once in a while there is an error somewhere, as they are human, but the overall pride of workmanship is there to see and feel.

Anyway, this is appropo of nothing, just going along with Uncle Bill's vent about the old web site people. I would want to crawl thru the phone and kill someone whose incompetence cost me that kind of money at the busiest season of the year.

But for every incompetent you get rid of, 10 more take their place. All of them with their hands out and their lives dedicated to mediocrity and "just good enuf!"

Regards,

Svashtar

I know everybody has their own story about this sort of stuff.

Incompetence is very common and I attribute most of it to a lack of caring. Only a few seem to give a damn.

Here at HI we live by the old saw, "a job worth doing is worth doing well," and on the advice given by my Guru, "if you can't do it with love and care don't do it at all."
